Conflict is a continuation of politics by other means and religious ones are no different. A war is a war at the end of the day no matter what the reasoning or cassus belli for it is wrapped in. People die, borders change, someone loses, someone wins.

Well brother will kill brother, spill blood across the land. Killing for religion, something I don't understand.
Fools like me who cross the sea and come from foreign lands; ask the sheep for their beliefs, do you kill on god's command? A country that's divided surely will not stand.

But I don't think many purely religious wars actually exist, that may be the reason they give for the fighting but in the end it's all about the usual stuff wars are about, mostly political control, resources, and land for your tribe. That's not really any more or less retarded than any other war.
