Following its boom during the COVID-19 pandemic, OnlyFans is now reportedly now seeking a valuation of over $1 billion USD. Since the start of 2020, OnlyFans has seen a 40 percent increase in creators and its total number of users shot from 7.5 million to 85 million.

Reporting $2 billion USD in sales with $400 million in revenue, the subscription service has caught the attention of venture capital firms and investors. But the NSFW image tied to OnlyFans has made it difficult to acquire funding. Aside from making it easier to lockdown advertisers, OnlyFans could look to move away from its adult content image and pivot towards mainstream media to reach its $1 billion USD goal.

Da fuck? That's the entire point lmao.
Correct me if I'm wrong, but I don't believe Onlyfans ever advertised themselves as a porn site. The point was initially as a means for content creators to provide exclusive content to an existing fanbase only to contributors. I made this same basic point on the thread @X Prime linked to but it's worth restating here.
I doubt the creator of Onlyfans conceived of the site being what it is. They probably had a vision more in line with "exclusive Q&A's" and maybe a few Twitch thots showing their tits if they're so inclined. It was never supposed to be the camwhore site it is today. It's the consoomers and prodoocers that made it into what they wanted it to be.

Sex sells.

But now that's that what made the site successful, why the flying fuck would they "pivot" away from that? Do they just want to wreck their business?

What would make a little more sense is to have a spinoff site called "OnlyFans After Dark" maybe.

Or better yet, just add a fucking SFW filter, don't delete the NSFW content, boom, problem solved.

Because venture capital doesn’t watch to touch NSFW stuff. The only real investment you’ll get is sketchy, or many strings attached. Their options are more limited than they otherwise would be.

Services like OF only exist because of VC dollars, most of these services don’t actually make enough money to keep the lights on, they require regular cash infusions. The whole tech industry is a bubble.

They want to go public and they probably want more VC money, so their current image hurts a lot.

This isn’t a matter of wanting to wreck the business, it’s a matter of them probably having no choice.

And that’s just VC/investment money, we haven’t even gotten to the issue of advertisers and payment processors, both of which pose different problems for NSFW businesses.

Oh well, hopefully they fail and the coomers lose their e-whores.

They probably have some delusions about becoming a large tech company that eventually goes public. 99% of the money they make comes from NSFW content. They’ll be dead within a month of banning it and someone will take their place.

The reeeing will be epic once NSFW stuff is banned.

So, will they turn out like Tumblr? Fade into irrelevance immediately upon banning NSFW content? I don't really see how an image change would benefit Onlyfans at this point. Everyone knows who they are and what their service is used for.

Yeah. As I said in the aforementioned thread, they are not going to get rid of their reputation as "that camwhore site" without penalizing their established userbase. And by doing so they'd be committing corporate sudoku.
Honestly, if I were them, I'd sell the shit to Mindgeek and make something new, more true to their vision, and light-handedly polices sexual content while allowing basically anything else that's legal.

But I'm not them. I'd hold on to that porn site.

All that's going to happen is everyone's going to stop using it and the site will be worthless, this is stupid as shit, business people really aren't smarter than that?

Exactly, this is literally a "we want to go out of business" move.

This is unironically a good thing. Not because “porn bad”, but because there once was a time when OnlyFans wasn’t for part time prostitutes. This is the owners taking back their site, and the thots who polluted it deserve everything that happens to them.

Go to a fucking porn site.

Wait you're telling me something that was advertised by others quite blatantly as it being a NSFW platform isn't actually one?
What the fuck? Am I in the right timeline fellas?

Probably yah, but that doesn’t mean they won’t try. I imagine they want to try to be more like patreon.

The site is probably doomed regardless of what they do if we’re being realistic. The valuation is insane and another example of the bubble in that industry. I can’t believe such huge valuations are still happening honestly.

I don’t care what happens to OF, I’m just calling it how it is. They are between a rock and a hard place.
