Whether you like it or not a lot of kiwifarmers are chronically online. By proxy a lot of you have very varied and interesting music taste and this subforum has led me to cool shit.

What are some examples of artists you like that are very in touch with/essential to the Internet itself? Maybe they're (in?)famous online, their music just has that online feel to it, or it was used in a very online piece of media.

Examples:
- JPEGMAFIA
- US Golf 95
- A bunch of troon hyperpop artists (gay i know)
- Greens on Toast

Despite Bad Apple! being so prominent in online culture, Alstroemeria Records has functionally zero impact even within the Touhou community online because literally everything else they've published is garbage-tier EDM that sounds like it belongs in the kind of seedy strip club that gives "happy endings".

Windows96 qualifies, right? I'd think a lot of Tracker stuff does too. Jesper Kyd, Joeger Liljedahl, Dr. Awesome, guys like that. I guess you could attribute them more to old tech than the internet itself, but I think that entire family of music is so inherently tied to digital media that it's hard to separate from the worldwide web. The connection gets even stronger when you consider that most famous Tracker-based OSTs (eg Unreal Tournament) are from games that are either heavily connected to the early internet or greatly relied on it in some way.

This is a J-core album very connected to the Internet, as it's a compilation album that came with a 2channel magazine. Japanese Nerdcore/Techno, compiled by DJ Sharpnel

every single incelcore/epunk artist ever best of the bunch include
- Tzarbombah
- Negative xp
- Anhero
- Hard christ
- Uhohslater
I remember Tzarbombah from early early ifunny times, glad hes become enough of a name to be listed here, havent heard his stuff in years... recommend any songs from the shed dweller?

love peggy it's just annoying to say that publicly because you get lumped in with his annoying fans who do shit like bring ds' to his shows and record with it for attention, he hates this comparrison but he's just tame death grips for the current "niche alternative hip hop" crowd

Devon Hendryx betta
he has some good songs under that name but they don't really compare to veteran/lp, the ghost pop tape is good

whatever happened to him, thought he would've had more success with the amount of momentum he had in 2019, his gamer albums and varsity were good he might of got spooked after that kid shot up a school wearing his shirt lol, his covers were always a treat

I really liked Magdalena Bay's last album
I know an annoying gay guy who's really into them and that's put me off properly listening to them

I never really understood that comparison beyond Black Ben Carson and a few of the more industrial beats off of Veteran. Peggy makes much more melodic music than even the most melodic DG stuff (e.g. The Money Store). Plus, he has a lot of singing and bouncy flows compared to Ride's onslaught of vocals. Not to mention the absence of anything resembling Zach Hill-ian drums in Peggy's work.

you get lumped in with his annoying fans

I couldn't agree more, that's actually a better comparison to Death Grips than his music now I'm thinking about it- great music, but some obnoxious little fuckers love it. The original JPEGMAFIA subreddit got shut down because it was so indescribably annoying.

Death grips haven't had a shit album imo, ex-military and the money store were some of the best albums of that era and even the later ones never had a noticeable decline in quality, It's just a shame that the other people that vocally love them only do it because it makes them feel cool for liking "niche" and "alternative" music to impress retards online.

one of the era defining songs of the 2010s

I'm surprised there isn't a drain gang thread (or if there is it isn't active) quintessential "internet music", bladee's new album is decent but we're probably not getting anything on par with icedancer again. Ecco as been mia for years outside of a few collab tracks, yung lean isn't technically a part of dg but he's so closely linked he may as well be

whitearmor is the best hip hop producer of the past decade idc

obligatory

I fucking hate this song, it only gets praise because its has ecco with up and coming talent but it's just boring

Última edición:
Idk if these are what you're looking for but they have a kind of online (soundcloud) vibe to me and I've been listening to them.

I agree it was very mediocre, but that Fakemink guy has some great tracks, especially when he works with the producer Suzy Sheer imo. Sort of hyperpop-cloud rap crossover.

MGMT has provided the audio backdrop to a lot of memes and video content over the past few years or so, and I dig their stuff.

I unironically love Little Dark Age and have since it came out but it was ruined in public perception by children on Tik Tok; their old stuff is also nice.
