I started watching around that era and I stuck around so they were doing something right. The Crash 2 playthrough is still one of the best on the channel.

It's been brought up before but Tomar is the only regular guest who has not only namedropped the Farms, but specifically knew about the section for international lolcows. That indicates at least some familiarity with the site beyond simply knowing of it.

A big benefit the DD&J era had was the lack of censorship YouTube used to put on it's creators. While they did have to worry about copyright strikes they could also say Nigger and make what ever edgy joke they wanted.

Maybe this is something that you guys don't care for but a big part of what made the DD&J era good was that most videos allowed Chris to be the main driver of funny jokes. Chris was the funny man and DingDong was the straight man. Julian, while you may think he only served as a laugh track, also acted as a sort of amplifier to the more immature and absurd nature of Chris' comedy.
Funny Scream just isn't the type of joke that would land with Lyle or Tomar.

Edit: As an example, in the most recent Peak video Chris started cackling like a witch. With DingDong and Julian that would have been an entire bit. Now? Basically no reaction at all.

Nowadays it seems almost flipped. Chris is usually the (mostly) straight man.

It's sad to say but even if DD&J came back I doubt the DD&J era of the channel would return. On top of just being older DD&J are far too gay now to stoop so low as to make fun of furries or fart fetishists. The magic was already mostly gone by the time Oneystays happened five years ago.

Extra thoughts: I wish Harry Partridge was on more. While Zack is great he seemed to be pretty bored on the more recent videos he was in. Lyle has a special talent for shutting down jokes.

Dingdong brought a lot of halfway straightman, halfway sass and a lot of interesting obscure knowlege from games. I liked the weird games theyd play back then

I always liked Chris from that time too since he was a lot sillier and played the buffoon a lot more with his RPs, jokes, hypotheticals and bounced off the two of them a lot.
But I know if they ever returned it wouldnt be the same. DD&J arent the same goofballs they used to be and theyd probably just be very drour and much more negative. I could see the hints of it when Dingdong would get flustered during Lets Plays.

I think that the whole YIIK debacle mightve been what ended any chances of them ever returning but idk, part of me likes how they never uploaded the final episode. As if the era isnt over, its just on hiatus

I wish they had done a few more games that Retsuprae did. Deep Fear wouldve been great or finishing Blue Stinger

I liked it, we would've never seen anything like Mr. Bones or Illbleed if it wasn't for DD, he played the games well, knew trivia about them and, him and Chris were a good mix but I feel like if they came back, it wouldn't be the same.

The Dream Daddy "drama" was so fucking gay though. I don't know how his games are doing either, he hasn't posted an update since December 2025.

For me the pokemon red playthrough was peak dd&j, full of funni scream, editing when they lost most of the game audio, brat watson being made fun of, ding dong being autistic about lil stank's name being cut off and not allowed to do the toxic cheese because of the game's broken code, that's the one I think of when I think of that era
 
I like that you can watch Pokemon Red, nothing infuriates me more than physically watching the KH 1&2 playthroughs, they are great to listen to (minus listening to Ursula spin and laugh for 10 or so minutes) but my god for someone that claimed to have played Kingdom Hearts a lot I don’t get how you can actually be as bad as Julian was.

Bro couldn’t even SWING HIS SWORD in the slowmo after a boss kill like every kid did when they first played for the cool trail effect.
 
The absolute peak for me, potentially for the entire history of the channel, is the DD+J modded GTA5 playthrough with Porchee, Bumblin' Burry, and Motifa. Everyone just had fun and my wife and I still quote "I did it - for America" all the time. Contrasting that with YIIK where DD schoolmarm'd Julian when he said faggot, the issue seems to be that DD+J don't let themselves have fun, or at least DingDong doesn't allow Julian to have fun.
 
DD&J videos are good background noise, i usually have them on when drawing or something motor-skill focused. later LPs with Zach, Lyle, Tomar , Cory and Chris are basically the equivalent of goon videos, you can't tune it out as background white noise, theres always someone screaming or talking about snipping a frenulum or two, which is fine too, if you want to watch the LP and do nothing else.

P.S. I'm disappointed that no one mentioned or mocked "henchperson" in the subtitles of this legoslop game. Maybe Cory wouldve cancelled them for unaffirming his wholesome trans gf o algo

Imagine if Tomar, the father of the ugly boys themselves, kept an eye on some KF threads to ensure the boys don't get embroiled in bad dealings with known freaks. Kinda like vetting ppl they meet?
Would not be a bad strat even if the above line reads as completely deluded. Gotta be careful in the Content Creation scene.

It's just some silly, dumb shit. that really amuses me. Every step of it; someone just jumping on the username 'Fuck', half of the chat adoring him only because of the username, to DingDong finding them suspicious just because of that, to everyone lamenting Fuck being lost while also cracking jokes as DD's guard dog Werma join's Fuck's side.

The fact it went passed anything other than silent recognition with a bunch of 30 somethings mostly in good fun is ridiculous in a good way.
