ITT post stories about your concert experiences!

I go to a lot of shows so I have quite a few, from going on stage with Suicidal Tendencies along with the rest of the crowd during the last chorus to "You Can't Bring Me Down" to Crowd surfing for the first time at a fucking Offspring concert (lol) to my first ever concert that I ever went to which was an Iron Maiden concert with my grandfather lol

post about your concert experiences.
OR ELSE:jaceknife:

I think I've been to two concerts in my life. One was a Rush concert in 2012 and the other was Iron Maiden with Coheed and Cambria as the opening act. They were both pretty good.
My parents tell me tales of the one and only Marillion concert they've ever been to. Apparently it was transcendental.

I saw ringo and his all star band, it was his birthday, he threw cake and I got to hear toto sing Africa. I also saw slipknot and marilyn Manson together, the gaint spinning drum sets where rad. I saw Tenacious D, minecraft Steve is a really good showman, it was kinda shocking he didn't passout with how red and sweaty he got. I saw modest mouse twice, once where I was in front and it was amazing, I'm pretty sure it was Jeremiah Green's last tour.

Went to a Mustard Plug gig in this armpit of a venue, everyone was throwing beer cans and haymakers shit was the greatest gig i'd ever been too. Saw Smashing Pumpkins pretty close to the front Billy Corgan threw his guitar pick, landed straight between my tits like a perfect shot still have that too as a memento.

Saw slipknot this year for the first time lot of old men sitting down including Corey :tomgirl: Still bloody great.

Finally got to see TISM
couple of years ago down in Melbourne fucking shot off can't quite explain a TISM gig just watch the clip it'll give you a bit of idea of the chaos involved.

Saw Royal Crown Revue play live went dancing with a friend that night was the greatest revival swing gig i'd see for awhile.

I've got list as long as my leg but those are my tops for the moment.

Oh i also seen Cherry Poppin Daddies like 3 times live so good. And Blood Hound Gang the last time they came out to Aus at a metal festival, Alice in Chains and NIN also played that night so was pretty fucking great.

I saw the Wonder Girls live when they toured! I was a kid so a good portion of it is hazy, but I had a really good time (unlike my poor dad.) Was probably one of the few non-asians there, but everything was really fun. They performed covers, song their songs in English, and some of them in Korean. I think my dad hid at one point leaving me alone, I didn't realize it until he admitted "I went somewhere else" since I was having such a good time. Still remember shouting the fanchants at the top of my lungs and singing along :) I don't think I would go to another kpop concert, I'm too old and in my mid twenties now. Most post-gen 2 kpop doesn't appeal to me either. If they ever did a reunion tour, I would be really interested.

I really wish they sang more of their songs though instead of doing covers now looking back though.

Concerts fucking suck if you don't live anywhere where decent local bands play. Buying expensive tickets and driving 3+ hours, no one does anything fun or crazy because when you do all that, you try your best to not get kicked out. My first was Judas Priest/Deep Purple. Lawn tickets so I couldn't really see anything. Had fun, nothing interesting happened. More recently I saw Armored Saint/WASP. They wouldn't let me in if I didn't pay 5 bucks for them to hold my jacket because it had spikes on it. Would've torn them off if it wasn't screwed in. Had fun, nothing interesting happened.
My mom was the one to have all the fun, when bands used to come closer locally. In the 80s she saw practically every hair band, Ozzy, Metallica, etc. Lost all her band shirts from those days in a fire.

Most of the music I like are by guys too old or too dead to your, but I have been to a handful of concerts:

I’ve seen Blue Öyster Cult four times, the first had Vanilla Fudge and The Robbie Krueger Band as openers, and the most recent was when they did a 50th anniversary with Grand Funk Railroad. Each show kicked ass and all the groups played their respective asses off, with the only actual low point was one show where Eric Bloom was clearly unwell, and he still stayed up on stage doing stick tricks and playing keys after passing things off to Buck Dharma.

I also saw Kansas once when they played at a local old-time theater, a la a classical music concert, which ended up being the perfect venue. This was the first tour after they replaced Robbie Steinhart, so I was a bit wary that the violin parts wouldn’t hold up, but it ended up being a great show.

I went to Ozzfest in I think 2000. A lot of good bands there. I made it to the very front for the last two acts which were Pantera and Ozzy. This was a few years before Dimebag was shot iirc. Anselmo came out on stage with long hair and a big beard and I was like "who the fuck is this guy?" I don't care for them much these days but I distinctly remember Godsmack put on a really good show. I got a Dreamcast shirt from the Dreamcast demo trailer they had there. The world was certainly a different place.

The last concert I went to was Santana in like 2007 or something.

I have seen every Psychopathic records artist from their 2010s line up in concert and 08' GOTJ. Also Disturbed's Music as a weapon 4 tour and a Seether tour they did with Breaking Benjamin, 3DG, and Skillet. I used to try and go to a lot of concerts. Nowadays I hate the idea of going to one.
Best Concert for me: Twiztid 's WICKED tour of 07'.
Worst concert for me: Blaze's Gang Rags tour 2010
and yes, ICP shows they used to throw faygo soda 2 litters into the crowd.

I went to see Rise Against in Orlando and St. Pete's. I fucked up my Knee at the gym and at Orlando House of Blues I got the cripple pass to skip the line. Was radical. St. Pete, I didn't have that luxury, because it was an outdoor venue, but some guy climbed a pole, tried to kick security, and got kicked out. It was funny.

I ended up getting pizza later, and seeing the same guard that was manhandling him, and sent the video to her, it was right next to her.

Oh, and out house of blues, some dude came from Chile, and they let him play a song up their with him because he could. Really neat.

When I saw Obituary last year some dude kept lifting people up on top of the crowd to surf over the barrier for their entire set. Security were even cool with it and kept helping people over and directed them back into the crowd. Twenty people must have gone over by the end of the night.

At a local metal show I saw someone take a swing at another guy because he was, for some reason, sick of getting knocked into despite standing on the edges of the moshpit, which is like standing in the rain and getting annoyed that you're wet. He got kicked out on his ass pretty quick.

Was horribly sick with the flu when I saw Suffocation. I shouldn't have gone but I already bought the unrefundable ticket and travelled multiple hours to see them so I didn't want it to be a big waste of time and money, which it kinda ended up being because I was in no condition to be able to enjoy anything. I spent the next day lying half-dead on the floor of my friend's lounge room, who thankfully didn't catch what I had.

I go to the symphony quite frequently. I have seen some exceptional performances, and even got to see a few US-premiers and even world-premiers for new pieces.

Overall highlight was probably seeing the Carmina Burana live with one of the best children's (and adult) choirs in the US (not going to namedrop them as I don't want to dox myself). It was genuinely a better performance than any of the recordings I have heard, with much more "personality" in some of the solo performances, especially the parts with the swan and the abbot.

Went to see JPEGMAFIA a couple of weeks ago, genuinely fantastic performer, guy knows how to make a crowd spaz out, the tracklist was incredible and varied (Practically played music from all his eras, even Devon Hendryx), sound was fantastic, and high energy the entire show, even on the slower songs like Free the Frail or that hilarious Call Me Maybe cover.

I've also been to plenty of underground shows and my god do those guys generally fucking suck, it's a bit of a roulette tbh, but generally horrible sound, place will smell like kush and piss and it's just the most trash soundcloud music being blasted on old 2000s speakers, you'd expect 'underground' artists to be, idk, experimental at least, but i can perfectly understand why they stay underground lol

Went to see Rise Against in Orlando and St. Petersburg last year. In Orlando, some guy from Chile got to play a song on stage. At St. Petersburg, some guy climbed a light pole and faught security... he got arrested.

Both concerts had LS Dunes and spiritual Cramp open for them.

Im booked for the Rise of the Roach tour in October.

Saw Galneryus when they were at ProgPower back in 2019. That whole festival was fun (Sanctuary played Refuge Denied front to back, along with some other goodies), though I do regret not knowing more about Jag Panzer at that time (I'm a retard). Jag Panzer killed it.

I went to shows constantly as a teenager and years ago I went to this punk rock show that was being held in a condemned house the bands took over. Little did I know it was SO condemned that there weren't even any floors so me and my girlfriend and everybody else there were just balancing on floor joists all night in what probably used to be a living room and into the kitchen. I'm amazed of the 20-50 people there (something like that), most of whom were drunk punk retards, nobody fell through into the basement.

Then the cops came and we ran away.

Nice, Jag Panzer rules. Was that the year Refuge (Peavey Wagner from RAGE) played there? I’ve always wanted RAGE to come to the US before they retire. One of my all time favorite power metal bands.

On topic, I go to shows all the time, mostly thrash and death. My brother and I have been to around 10 shows this year. Hells Heroes this year had a great lineup and we saw a bunch of legendary bands live for the first time. Saxon was definitely my favorite but I also loved seeing Riot, Liege Lord, Savage Master, Haunt, D.R.I., and Abbath. I hope they can nail Running Wild for next year. That’s a dream/bucket list band.

Obituary doing 35 years of Cause of Death was amazing and that lineup was stacked! I also saw Exodus not long ago. I met Dukes and Gary Holt outside the venue, cool guys. Coming up we’re seeing D.R.I., that Blind Guardian US tour, Cannibal Corpse/Municipal Waste (mostly going for Waste, but I still have a little hope CC will pull out some deep cuts like Sentenced to Burn), Alice Cooper/Priest and then there’s a hardcore fest near me that Terror, ST, Madball and Initiate are playing.

Nah, that was a different year I believe.
Riot, Liege Lord
I'm envious just because of those two. Riot being one of my all time favorite bands, and Liege Lord having one of the best USPM albums ever in Master Control

Yes, and both still play at an insanely high level live too. If Riot ever comes close to you I highly recommend it. They closed out the preparty and they were the perfect closer. Entire room was singing along. Johnnys Back and Thundersteel were my two favorites of the night.

Liege Lord also played some new material they said they have ready for their new album. To my ears it was a little more thrashy and groovy, not so much power/speed. Kinda similar to modern Heathen.
