I think my issue with anime is that it takes a lot of work to be a non-normie about it because you have to research good anime yourself and can't just rely on whatever is going on in the slopgeist, but the issue also is that my anime interests are niche but also hugely popular that they are far-and-few between. If I could have Vinland Saga as a genre, but put toward other history subjects like Charlamagne, Julius Caesar, or the Iliad, then I'd just watch those every day. The "normie degeneracy" has killed a lot of potentially groundbreaking anime in favor of idolizing women/perversion or wokery. I like a little tasteful perversion like Naruto, but Prison School was just too much. I liked Attack on Titan until the ending, even with the S4 time skip and aesthetic differences.

There are also "types of fans" of anime who have always been insufferable i.e all women & nerdy black guy.

I don't watch it, I don't really care unless there is something going on.

the only anime i've watched all the way through was gurren lagann and that only reinforced my disdain for anime in general. it's overly melodramatic and characters spend way too much time explaining shit, including repeating what we all saw just happened.
example:
thing explodes
jump cut to several still frames of characters with their mouth agape making shocked grunting noises

character: "it exploded"

yeah no fucking shit we just saw that

This manga has been on my back-burner for a while, and I haven't read all of it, but you might like Hawkwood. Synopsis says its about the Hundred Years' War. There's also Kingdom, but that's based upon the Chinese Warring States period and not Western European history. Hawkwood is one of those mangas I'd want an adaptation for. There's some others, but like Kingdom its mostly based upon Asian history as opposed to Western European history (understandable, considering the people producing anime are Japanese).

i cant stand it...its stupid and predictable...some crybaby character has an introspective moment, and then fucks his sister/some relative or close friend, a giant robot destroys everything, and then more faggoty introspection cut scenes, etc
my introduction to it was in 92, when my then teenage husband asks if i want to watch a movie, and then proceeds to pop in a vhs tape of the most depraved and cringe nonsense ever.

I like anime as a medium. Theoretically, it should encourage creativity and freedom. You aren't constrained by real life, and most anime are sourced from manga written by individual writers, not teams from corporations. But, most anime end up reusing the same tropes, storylines, character archetypes, and are incredibly one-dimensional. You have to sift through slop to find watchable anime.

I like anime but I wouldn’t talk about it in public. It’s interesting to compare different anime and the people who will shamelessly wear their shitty hot topic shirt of it.

Lately I’ve seen a lot Frieren shirts, worn by skinny-fat balding millennial white men.

Jujutsu Kaisen is worn by fat Mexican children.

Naruto is worn by Niggers.

My Hero Academia is worn by middle and high school girls. Usually they’re gender specials too but to be fair that’s basically the new emo now.

I don’t really see Dragon Ball anymore but from what I remember it was mostly fat white nerds. I know that’s is popular with the other races too but I don’t really see them wearing the merchandise.

There are a lot of car stickers of Miku and Sailer Moon I see but those are almost always real women. Troons don’t leave their house often after all.

The problem is america doesnt wanna try cool ideas, and if it does and works and succeeds they milk the shit out of it. Creative works of passion like Star wars, lucas had to FIGHT for it to be shown on the big screen. and in full circle fasion

Anime is popular because america is so scared of taking chances now.

Japan isnt afriad to roll the dice.
