If you do not know who Kanye West is, congratulations on getting out from under that bridge you've been living under. Here's an excerpt from his Wikipedia article.
Kanye Omari West is an American rapper, singer, songwriter, record producer, entrepreneur and fashion designer. Born in Atlanta and raised in Chicago, West briefly attended art school before becoming known as a producer for Roc-A-Fella Records in the early 2000s, producing and co-producing hit singles for artists such as Jay-Z and Alicia Keys.

West's outspoken views and life outside of music have received significant mainstream attention. He has been a frequent source of controversy for his conduct at award shows, on social media, and in other public settings, as well as his comments on the music and fashion industries, U.S. politics, and race. As a fashion designer, he has collaborated with Nike, Louis Vuitton, and A.P.C. on both clothing and footwear, and have most prominently resulted in the YEEZY collaboration with Adidas beginning in 2013. He is the founder and head of the creative content company DONDA.

West is among the most acclaimed musicians of the 21st century. He has sold more than 100 million digital downloads and 21 million albums worldwide, making him one of the best-selling music artists of all time. He has won a total of 21 Grammy Awards, making him one of the most awarded artists of all time and the most Grammy-awarded artist of his generation. Three of his albums have been included and ranked on Rolling Stone's 2012 update of the "500 Greatest Albums of All Time" list. Time Magazine named him one of the 100 most influential people in the world in 2005 and 2015.

I know that there's already a Kanye album rating thread. That thread has not only been dead for four months, but it's way too specific of a topic. This thread will focus on everything related to Kanye, including (but not limited to):
  • Kanye's eight (going on nine/ten) studio albums and four mixtapes.
  • Kanye's songs, singles or not.
  • Kanye projects outside of music (ex: fashion, shoes, potential streaming app, presidential campaign, etc.)
  • Kanye's drama.
  • News stories/editorials/articles/videos discussing and/or mentioning Kanye.
  • Kanye's social media posts.
  • Kanye's business decisions (ex: label changes, corporation deals, etc.)
  • Kanye's relationship with other celebrities, artists, public figures, and the media.
  • Notable Kanye parodies/satires (ex: A Kanye Place, Fishsticks, Kanye Gets Too Real On Ellen, etc.)
  • Kanye interviews.
  • Kanye's impact in the grander scheme of things (ex: his influence on the music industry, on the fashion industry, etc.)
Kanye is arguably the most famous, mainstream lolcow. Why shouldn't he have a thread dedicated to him?

To start the conversation, here is my listing of all the Kanye albums/projects from most enjoyable to least:

My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy > Yeezus > Graduation > The Life Of Pablo > 808s And Heartbreak > College Dropout > Late Registration > Watch The Throne

I love every Kanye album. There are just some that I love more than others, nothing wrong with that.

Kanye was a really, really good producer. He crafted some amazing songs. His lyrics were always kind of dumb and trash.

Big fan of most of his work, his early work is insane but I particularly love how he gently moved away from the 90s/00s hiphop sound from his first two albums and made sure that every album afterwards had a distinct feel. Graduation completely separated him from rappers desperately clinging to the mid 90s and he’s never looked back since.

It's blatantly obvious that his last 'peak' was MBDTF. YEEZUS had some bangers on it but didn’t have the overall consistency that his previous albums had and from then on the percentage of trash per album just intensified. Donda could have been a fun 6 track EP but instead it’s a bloated mess that is a complete chore to sit through. Kids See Ghosts was good but left me wanting more

It’s also interesting what happened to Kanye almost immediately after releasing MBDTF. He was diagnosed as bipolar, he married Kim Kardashian and for whatever reason just kept spiralling further and further and doing far more extreme things than previously. The past few years saw him chat to President Trump in the fucking WHITE HOUSE to make suggestions, join a church choir in an extreme Christian arc, isolate himself completely from his family for months at a time to make music, announce albums and then straight up ignore release dates for no reason etc. That’s even before his recent far right meltdown that includes buying Parler, losing major sponsorships and the other shitstorms.

I legit think Kanye West is an incredible individual and pretty much the only modern rockstar I can think of nowadays. For better or worse, he’s Kanye and even his current meltdowns are completely on brand for Kanye in a weird warped way. I hope he gets medicated or something soon though because watching an extremely talented person become a lolcow when you know fine well they’re capable of producing something incredible if only they had it a little more together isn’t as funny as watching some no name retard sperging out on cam.

I never liked his music. I always thought he was an over-rated jackass, and his only good songs were just ripping better songs off. He seems like a based enough guy though.
He admits that he gets a lot of his stuff from artists who passed on their beats to him.
Even in "Everything I Am" the first line is "
Damn
Here we go again
Common passed on this beat, I made it to a jam
But everything I'm not made me everything I am"
Though he is good at making lyrics.. sometimes.
Also,
this lyric basically predicted his future

Just listened to Null's podcast from December. Gotta say I'm disappointed. He chalks Kanye's behavior during the Alex Jones interview up to brain damage from SSRIs. Kanye's clearly in the middle of a manic episode. When he randomly spits out bible verses, that's the misattribution of meaning that can come with manic episodes. Its not too surprising either since he has a prior diagnosis.

Great article? He’s claiming autism now, he’s just lost and oppositional defiant and attention seeking like Madonna and her Sex book. Somebody made an AI video of stars wearing fuck you kanye shirts with a Star of David and middle fingers. He’s so punk he thinks he’s a white skinhead. I feel bad for him And want to help him. He needs help for sure but wow what a great tweeter! It’s a great time to be alive! Link is a Forbes article with great info https://www.forbes.com/sites/maryro...of-selling-only-one-thing-a-swastika-t-shirt/
