Nolan's The Odyssey - Potentially could be epic or an epic flop.

Waiting to see how it all goes for this movie in the next couple weeks. I don't think its straight up dogshit or anything, but it's just not well made in any respect. I doubt it'll do terribly, but to a degree, I do wonder how it will do with general audiences. I'm assuming that people will see it purely because it's Nolan at first, but I am not sure it will have staying power.

I'm sure it'll be a moderate success, if I had to guess, even if I think it's a poorly made, and horribly edited film.

It’ll be forgotten in a week, meanwhile the actual Odyssey poem will persist like it has to this day. I guess thats the only silver lining to this. Whether its from peoples attention spans now or just the media being so horribly dystopian we all move on from it.

/tv/ is now in peak shill mode. I mean like actual Indians and disingenuous retards. There is a culture war aspect and /tv/ does have various discords raiding it for pay, ideology, and because they are pedophiles.

The initial leak threads were fun. Now it’s paid trolling and bait posts.
well yeah
if you've been on /v/ or /tv/ before you know this happens after every new release that bombs fucking horribly

I feel like people think badly lit means arthouse style (kind of is). This and Oppenheimer had that same issue where lighting sucked and no one calls it out.
Bad lighting has been a scourge throughout the industry for over a decade. Nolan is competent, but he's not a trend setter. If anything this is proving he's behind in the movie fads. I'll see it Wednesday and I'm not going to spoil it watching a cam copy. It does appear to be appealing to the fairly 'normie' crowd though somewhat. Critikal liked it, and Ben Shapiro just said it's really good except for the message the casting gives off.

It's really odd to see such divisive reviews across political and general audiences. I really liked Oppenheimer, it was the first movie since No Country for Old Men that I rooted for winning Oscars. I don't really remember any of the movies even up for them since late 00's until it, and none since.

Nolan's always been hit or miss, but never this flat out controversial which sadly seems might be the most interesting outcome out of it all long term. It really sounds like if he fixed about 20% of the movie it could've been fairly universally praised unlike most flat out woke bombs lately that were still born (Disclosure Day, Supergirl, tons others).

Funny asmon:

I know this is made to make fun of Nolan but Gibson was just as wrong in different ways with Apocalypto. He kept mixing up Aztec and Mayan events/stories/cultural tropes all over the place, and worst of all, the movie ends with the Spanish showing up which makes absolutely zero goddamn sense when they weren't due to arrive for 500 years and the Spaniards at the time were still up to their necks in Umayyad bullshit.

I don't really care if it does well or badly since the general public having shit taste has been a joke for as long as I can remember. It's an objectively horrible adaption of the Odyssey that is disrespectful in just about every way that's possible. If Nolan wanted to do a story about war making monsters out of men and PTSD, he could've just shot a generic war film. Maybe one about the Thirty Years War' or something.

I think that's the joke, that even as badly as Gibson messed up with Apocalypto, he at the very least did the bare minimum in retaining historical veracity. Nolan couldn't even manage that.

Zendaya is the embodiment of a whore sucking dick to get ahead. From Dan Schneider to Levinson to Holland, she's sucked cock to get ahead and if you believe rumors, might even be pimping out Holland to high ranking gays in Hollywood now that she's bored with him and Holland desperately not wanting to lose her
I don't know all too much about her past the Euphoria thing, But If she got Schneider'd as a kid thats a fucking shame.

At the very least, fans are again gleefully using this to spit in the faces of the doubters.

culture warriors suck so much ass. from one side of their mouths lefties will complain that majority rule is inherently fascist because of muh drumpf, then from the other cast something they agree with as the majority take and therefore correct. every single one of these motherfuckers has made themselves an expert in gaslighting and doublespeak just to score points for their gay little team. who cares that the movie made money? retards love slop and gleefully line up at the trough every time there's a fresh serving. anybody who thought a high exposure movie like this wouldn't sell tickets is delusional. also lmao at the "im terminally offline" guy inserting himself into gay twitter drama while dropping the word "rightoids" sure faggot, nothing online about that behavior at all.

self-identified "nerds" (i.e. redditors) would absolutely debase themselves for this but Evangelion is too niche of a franchise to draw blockbuster numbers. maybe the Nolan name would give it a bump since he hasn't driven it completely into the ground just yet (give it another 10 years) but I think most normal people wouldn't care enough to be interested. also, he would absolutely butcher it to the point of unrecognizability.

This has only slightly to do with the Odyssey...or has it?

There is a movie coming out about an african fantasy book...and Africans on Xitter hate it because there are no nigerian actors, only black british and american actors (so similar to what happened in the Odyssey except no joggerfication). They are also complaining that it looks like Wakanda and not the Yoruba culture it's based on. There is a mini war going on between black americans and africans in the comment section. There is also drama behind the scenes because the african writer wanted annoying Amandla Sternberg to be casted but later she blocked Amandla and distanced herself from the movie.

Modern Hollywood treats every culture (except jews) like shit.
There is more hilarious drama to come!

Some Africans are even talking about the Odyssey diversity hypocricy and argue with woke fools

There are way more angry comments.

This is proof that the casting choices in the Odyssey were 1.) Oscar bait and 2.) a demoralization technique against whites.

There are no white people in the african fantasy movie. No jeets, no slants, no trannies. Africans may hate the casting but they haven't been racially replaced.

Does anybody believe he's racist?

I always thought he was just an anti-Semite (not even a real one just a casual)
He named the Jew because everyone in Hollywood was Jewish and cast Jews as stars. It's basically common knowledge now with quasi-Jews like Seth MacFarlane joking about it but at Gibson's time was utterly unthinkable. Everyone accused him of having dementia, and he was cancelled before cancellation was really a thing or as big as it is now.

I know but he wasn't a real anti-semite.

He wanted to make a movie about the Maccabees that was kinda "philosemtic".

There is a difference between an Anti-Semite and a normal dude like Gibson who just happens to dislike or criticize aspects of Judaism.

PTSD is also frankly a modern concept born from the horrors of modern warfare. Incredibly loud noises from guns, explosions and the frank suddenness of mass casualties around modern soldiers is an overwhelming stimuli that hits just quickly enough to create mental breaks IN CERTAIN PEOPLE (Its not universal, only certain people have this mental vulnerability).

Missing the other massive component as especially seen in WWI, soldiers weren't allowed to withdraw from the explosions and horrors. Instead they were made to stay in place with everything happening around them persistently for days, weeks and longer on end.

I saw an article last week or so about this. The author won't even see the movie despite co-writing the screenplay and told the main actress to never mention her in an interview again because she's getting lumped in with the race traitor criticism. It's fucking hilarious and Paramount is gonna lose so much money.
