Anyway, the richest and most powerful corporations in the world are now currently mocking and abusing people trying to pay their bills for wanting to see the Odyssey as Homer imagined it without a black Helen of Troy and an Achilles stand-in played by a 5'1''-foot woman pretending to be a man and "leftist" "socialists" are joining in.

Comic book fans have been watching Marvel and DC rape their favorite characters for the better part of 30 years now.

If there's a group that can recognize subversion and demoralization when they see it, it's them.

And its been discussed to death already that Odysseus was the James Bond of his era. The manliest man of all Greek men. Strong, smart, capable. His only real weakness was his arrogance born from all his great virtues, which is what gets him in this shitshow with Poseidon in the first place.

This movie is fundamentally broken by actively fighting against the primary themes and cultural minutia of the actual story of "The Odyssey". Why the fuck did Nolan fight for decades to make something he fundamentally didn't understand and or hated?

PTSD always existed. It had different triggers before guns and explosives. Yelling would probably trigger it for example. Blood too.

Last time i've seen - they ate that shit up. You refer to it as "subversion and demoralization" when simpler explaination is that it's an actual zeitgeist for the vast majority of people alive today.

They didn't eat that shit up, in fact, the comic book industry has been bleeding users to the point the top 20 best selling comic slots are usually all taken up by manga, and when they're not, it's reprints of legacy stories from decades ago.

Just as an example, the Demon Slayer manga used to sell more copies than every Western comic book title combined, month on month, during the heyday of its popularity.

Most comic book stores have pivoted away from comics, ceding floor space to manga predominantly, and then toys and tabletop paraphernalia.

Some 20 years ago the sale numbers were so low that they would have been considered apocalyptic by 90s standards, and the 1990s were already considered very bad in terms of unit sales, the kind of numbers that would have marked the industry as doomed in decades prior.

The only reason Marvel and DC are still in business is that they're being propped up by their parent companies, the only time anyone takes notice of them is when they figure a particularly creative new way to defile a legacy character, while the rest of the time they exist as IP mills and little else.

If the capeshit movie boom hadn't happened, nobody would even be talking about Western comics in the current day and age.
 
Ellen Page doesn’t even pass as the young twink soldier that the movie is trying to pass Sinon off as. Her voice is still distinctly that of a woman trying to imitate a manlier one.

Also Odysseus is weirdly stupid and overly emotional in this film. I can’t even blame Matt Damon for this because he IS capable of playing a quick-witted rogue archetype but the movie is intent on ramming Odysseus into the same generic melancholy sadboi mould that all of Nolan’s male protagonists fall into.

Also fucking hell is Lupita even uglier in the actual film. Out of all the black women to cast they had to pick the most mannish looking one. And in case you think I’m exaggerating there’s a scene where she is briefly half-naked exposing her torso and she literally has the body of a man.

I’m starting to think that one schizo YouTuber whose name escapes me now who claimed that all Hollywood actresses were secretly MtF trannies may have been onto something.

It's made up.

They hate to show victorious soldiers as patriotic heroes who crushed their enemies with overwhelming strength, so they push a narrative of soldiers as pathetic victims, even if they win. Ruined, weak men who can't even take care of themselves.

It's just another demoralization tactic.

As an example the last month we have solid sales numbers for before Diamond shut down and Marvel and DC stopped reporting their numbers, the best selling book was TMNT #5 at 100000 issues sold, back in September 2006 Spider-Girl was canceled for only selling 67000 issues that month. So the best selling book today doesn't sell many more copies than a flop 20 years ago.

Comic book fans are not eating this garbage and that is why both Marvel and DC are leaving their HQs in New York and are just being given small offices at the film studios that own them,

That’s not even the dumbest part, that would be as Odysseus and his men are escaping from the Cyclops, genius that he is he decides to shoot an arrow at the beast thus aggravating it and causing it to chase him and his men to their boats, getting several of them killed in the process.

Why does he do this? As revenge for the Cyclops killing and eating several of his men earlier.

This is what I mean when I say that Odysseus is stupid in this film.

He was mad when it turned out the book made Knights and chivalry more and not less popular.
