Those guys are expecting limited edition OLED on par with a Legion Go (but twice the refresh rate) with at least 512gb, and more within the thin boy. But gotta keep that top of the class battery life, tho!

There has to be a compromise somewhere, these guys are usually the first to bend over and suck up whatever Nintendo gives them.

The Nintendo Switch used cartridges and a MicroSD expansion so that's storage covered, and buyers will largely accept a cheaper display in the first gen model

256 gb internal storage.
No oled screen. Looks like a larger LCD screen is likely.

Probably slightly more powerful than a steam deck, while being similar in size and cost.

I highly doubt that the Switch 2 will have a 500 GB version, let alone a 1 TB like the Steam Deck, which is where a lot of the extra costs in the more expensive versions went to. I also will not be surprised if the first model uses an LCD screen rather than an OLED. Those are the most obvious ways to cut costs and still get performance.

They're also the most logical. Lots of storage would be wasteful for players that exclusively buy cartridges, and gamers that mostly play in TV mode won't care about a higher quality screen.
 
Endless Ocean Luminous is fucking great. If you liked the Wii games, are an ocean life enthusiast, or wanted to do more exploration in Subnautica without having to worry about oxygen or Minecraft type bullshit, I cannot recommend it enough. After finally getting to spend some time playing it after reading the negative reviews I can say the game journos that didn't like it are fucking retarded.

It is cozy and laid-back and perfect to chill out to. The complaints about "it puts too much emphasis on multiplayer" are fucking stupid because you don't need to carry or rely on other players, unless you're dead set on finding the rare creatures which can be kind of challenging--you might be on the other side of the map but you can just warp to the player that found them. The only thing I agree with the journoscum on is that the story missions are ridiculously short. It's usually just "go find this creature" and the creature is not far from you so they can be finished in a few minutes or less, and then you have to unlock the next one through other dives. Which isn't that terrible, because I just wanna dive for God's sake!

The other annoyance is that you have to buy new suit colors, stickers and emotes for a ridiculous amount of in-game currency. But they're purely aesthetic, so it's not that big of a deal.

I'm really enjoying it and it's bringing back pleasant memories of the Wii games. One of my core memories was playing EO2 and swimming in the depths in pitch black, and turning around to see a fucking giant whale swimming straight down behind me. I've never been jumpscared by a video game like that since. I got pangs of nostalgia when I was playing Luminous a few days ago, just swimming and looking at some fish when I heard a whale song bellowing through my Switch. I turn around and there it was, swimming not far behind me.

Another time I started a multiplayer session and was dropped in the depths for the first time--I hadn't even found it in my solo dives yet. All the crazy deep-sea fish I love and even extinct creatures just there in the blackness. A whale fall and a sunken ship at the bottom.

TL;DR: It's just a really good game.

edit: ALSO like 30 minutes ago I was on a multiplayer dive with someone named "Sneed". That really brightened my day.

I can't tell if it's because I'm old and have low expectations or because I'm old and immune to hype, but to me 1080p60 is pretty much peak video game. I honestly can't even really tell the difference between 1080 and 4k. At that level it's basically just expensive anti aliasing. Whenever a game gives me the option between higher frame rate and higher resolution, I'll pick the former every single time.

Of course, this has been true since the N64 era, so it's not like I'm just hating new things because they're new. The expansion pack let you run certain games in high resolution mode (such as it is) at the cost of frames and even when I was a teenager I thought it looked like shit.

The myth is that the extra RAM allowed it to run longer until a memory leak finally took it down. DK64 did actually need the expansion pack, but it barely used it. With some clever optimization it could have been made unnecessary, but they ran out of time because they spent too long manually placing 600 billion bananas.
