Encore (yeah, the movie channel, yeah I don't know why either*) has begun to show Night Court, one of my favorite shows as a little kid (my parents watched it), even if all I remember from the show was Bull. I'm currently dvr'ing the series and getting pretty much acquainted with it for the first time. Encore is currently on the second season, with the first bailiff lady who died.

* Encore is also showing Murphy Brown, a show I DO remember watching with my mom growing up, and I still remember details about. I bought the first season on dvd the day it came out in 2005 ... and then no more dvd releases :(

Gawd I used to love Night Court. Dan Fielding was the best.

But a funny bit of trivia, part of the reason Richard Moll was chosen as Bull Shannon was because they needed a really tall actor. All the male leads on that show were over 6' 3" so they needed 6' 8" Richard to tower over them.

Has anybody seen the ep of Night Court where Dan's friend from college came back to see him, but he had a sex change? I love the scene where everybody rushes into the cafeteria because she decked him, and Dan is face down in the lettuce from the salad bar. She simply closes her compact and says, "...he was being bitchy." I wish it was on youtube!

There's nothing like a good 80s show. (I've never really seen night court, but pretty much all the cast has been on Super Password)

I don't think I've ever heard of this series. What's the premise?

Its a court that takes place in a very pre-Giuliani New York during the 80s. I think it ended in 1992. It was the kind of show that would very often abandon all reality just for the sake of a joke. Cartoon animal Wile E. Coyote once appeared in a quick gag.

Harry Anderson is probably one of the most likable people on the planet.

Night Court was the greatest. I loved the show as a kid, mainly because it was unlike most of the other '80s sitcoms on and it wasn't afraid of getting too silly or surreal.

I loved the scene where Dan collared his friend, the homeless guy Phil, and told him to "keep an eye on the guy in the penguin suit", meaning the singer Mel Torme, who had just randomly popped into the building. The next thing we see is a guy in a huge penguin costume waddling out of the cafeteria.
