I've seen this done by Brazilians, as well as at hog roasts. Amazon even has a top 12 list of best mops for the purpose.

That aside, why is your mom serving you food like she's in a hurry serving up the whole commune, or is the texture such that you can't even ladle the stuff into a bowl, you have to toss it to detach it from the rest of the beast? If so, I can't imagine how you'd consume it

The thing is, nobody actually eats a "toast sandwich". It was something that someone put in a home ec book 150 years ago, which was the 19th century equivalent of those idiot lifestyle blogs where people try and craft a "unique" presentation of their boring lives, and then promptly forgotten about until a rando at the Royal Society decided to "revive" it for grant money. The media astroturfed it into something they could write human interest stories about. The original "recipe" was invented to go in a book. Its entire existence is about generating attention and money. You can even see this in the references on the page. There's the original book in 1861, and then literally nothing else until 2011, when it suddenly exploded into prominence because someone wanted to have his picture in a newspaper.

The Toast sandwiches of meme fame are not a real thing. All the "toast sandwiches" that people claim to eat are just regular sandwiches with a slice of toast in the middle, to give it some extra crunch. It's like croutons on salad.

Now, crisp sandwiches, on the other hand, are very real. Bread, butter, salt and vinegar crisps. Yummy snack.

The first sign of a bad cook pretending to be better than they actually are is making a scene out of the simplest little things, if you think cooking is rocket surgery, you're probably bad at it
