I reckon he will use the car crash as an excuse to delay it.
Hes definitely going to try, but if he isn't verifiably in the hospital I expect the judge to tell him to fuck right on off. My read is that the judge is extremely tried of this shit. I already expect the trial to get continued in medias res due to them getting to the end of the day but not the end of the evidence atleast once - if anything he will just tell Nick that they won't take his testimony that day.

Spectre dropped the incident report on X. He had his eldest and Kayla in the van and smashed into some poor 66 year old guy. If I'm reading this right, Nick is the only one that complained of injury?

It was a loader for the gravel pit. That's been there for years.
Edit to add:
What kind of a fuck-ass accident report is one page long and contains no narrative or diagrams?
Either Spectre is drip-feeding, balldo-guarding; or the Kandiyohi County is balldo-guarding.

Report identifies the accident happened here. IDK how accurate they have to be in the county, or if this is just the nearest crossroads.

The only innocent explication would be Nick saw the front end loader and it didn't see him and pulled out on him at close range where he couldn't avoid, but I don't think the article would be written that way if that's what happened.
We've also seen the road. There are zero visual obstructions. As the oncoming vehicle he had the obligation not to just slam into it like a retard. He should have slowed down to the point he could immediately stop. He had the more maneuverable vehicle and the last clear chance to avoid the collision. Those things move like fucking turtles, if you can't avoid them you were negligent (res ipsa loquitur the thing speaks for itself).

Press Release:
Re: Motor vehicle collision with payloader
On Monday, June 1, 2026 at approximately 5:30pm, the Kandiyohi County Sheriff’s Office responded to a reported motor vehicle collision with a payloader along the 8400 block of Kandiyohi County Rd. 9 NE in Green Lake Township. A passenger van driven by a 44 year old Spicer man with his family was travelling southbound on Co. Rd. 9 when it attempted to avoid a large payloader that was crossing the roadway in front of them. The van struck the payloader in the bucket area. There were 5 occupants in the passenger van and all were transported to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
The Kandiyohi County Sheriff’s Office was assisted by the Spicer Fire Department, Spicer First Responders, Kandiyohi County Rescue Squad, and CentraCare Ambulance.
Chief Deputy Kent Bauman
I assume Killdozer Day came early this year.

Hitting the loader for the redi-mix plant that has probably been there the entire time he has lived in the area is somehow even more embarrassing than hitting a road construction vehicle.
The 1985 maps on Google Earth show a pit there, but access was probably to the highway. They've had access on that road (Co Rd 9) since some time between 1992 and 2003, around when the highway was converted to 4 lane.

I guess I failed to explicitly state it, my hypothetical assumes that the loader is stopped waiting to cross the road and only begins to move when Nick is already too close to avoid it. In situation where they both start the encounter moving I agree Nick would essentially be automatically liable.

Lines up pretty well, I don't know a ton about road construction but the last update was from 5/21 where a crew was beginning the base courses, whatever that means.
That actually makes it even worse. I know in the actually civilized jurisdiction I live, if you crashed into a construction vehicle doing work in an at-fault accident, you'd be lucky if you weren't criminally prosecuted and you could lose your license for literally years or even permanently depending on the circumstances and you'd be lucky to get that and a several K fine plus any civil penalties instead of thrown in jail on top of all that.

But then this isn't a corrupt shithole like Minnesota.

This is a rearview shot of the google maps car. It is more than likely a loader like this that probably crosses the road between pits several times a day.....for years. The vehicle in question is noted on the report to be owned by the by the pit owners.

Good spot! It’s probably that exact machine.
It’s not impossible it pulled out suddenly when the van was too close to stop or avoid it, but it seems incredibly unlikely. That driver basically has one job and it’s to not do that.
Nick was speeding or not looking ahead, or both. Simple as.

Not just in Minnesota but in the particularly corrupt Candyass County (I don't remember how to write the right name currently and let's be fair, that name is deserved with how they have dealth with Nick)
