I can't help but feel somewhat bad for NFKRZ
I don't. He did it all to himself and I wish him nothing but misery and ousting from the online space so that he has to slave away at a supermarket in Portugal, being nothing but a filthy immigrant that no one recognizes.
Here's the thing about Roman: he never really had an idea for himself and blindly followed what his pals like Pyrocynical did. When MLG edits were the hot shit, he was doing MLG edits. When commentary was the hot shit, he did commentary. Then came the breaking point where those YouTubers had to reinvent themselves and do something original. Pyro started doing video essays, and Roman, due to lacking much creativity, started doing videos on Russian culture, since he's Russian, he's proficient in English, so it's the best thing he could come up with when it was time to go independent. And not gonna lie, it worked and his content
was interesting.
That is of course until the war broke out. I hate that I haven't archived that video, but freshly after shit went down he made a video apologizing about being Russian and that this has happened, but then he deleted it. Hard to say if it was out of his own volition or if Roskomnadzor came knocking. Whatever it was, what came after was him self-immolating his online career. People who were watching him watched him for all the interesting Russian culture videos, and he did a complete 180 on this, shitting all over Russia and Russian culture, essentially permanently alienating his core audience. Remember that Roman lacks the smarts to make something of his own and this content was the best he had, and he pissed it all away. For what exactly? So that he can appease to a horde of mindless, hateful, violent US leftists that want him to be Charlie Kirk'd just because of his primordial sin of being Russian by becoming a propaganda outlet?
The moment this war ends, he is capital F Fucked. The Reddit crowd he was appeasing will drop him overnight once relentlessly hating Russia is no longer in the news cycle. His current "fanbase" utterly despises him as a person. His former fanbase also despises him and feels betrayed by him. There is no trend to latch onto like he did in his early years. He won't be able to go back to his old content as he has forever made himself known as Roman Albertovich Abalin, the two-faced backstabbing spineless Russian coward from Chelyabinsk.
All he had to do is have some principles, double down on the content he was already making and he would've been fine. He'd have a small viewership hit on the short term, but on the long term he'd be better off than he is right now. He'd still have a loyal viewership of people who enjoy learning about Russian culture, he would still be talking about various interesting stories and facts about his country, and he wouldn't drive himself into a corner from which he has no escape from.
So, suffer Roman. You only have yourself to blame.
