Nexpo/YT Horror Channels - Do they all suck

People are observing a new genre emerging from the artistic style of A24 horror films. While it has not yet been named, it primarily involves humorous facial expressions presented in a frightening context. Is this Hollywood trying to copy analog horror? I find it odd Hollywood not trying to copy the success of the Art the clown movies by producing more splatterpunk movies.
Dunno. If you think about it, cacophobia is a basis of Internet horror that precedes analog horror for a good while with stuff like Lomando or the work of Masaaki Nakayama, which I refuse to believe isn't where Kister et al got the idea from.

Three months late but I enjoyed his video on The Ritual. It was nice to contrast how different the book and movie are yet touch on the same themes with different endings.
I was recommended this video and was thoroughly disappointed to find it was nothing more than a lazy retelling of the book, which I had just read recently which meant it had absolutely nothing new to actually say or offer. This especially was disappointing as I enjoyed the book and hoped to have found another fan providing further analysis meant to provoke discussion because there is much that could be said about The Ritual as a story and concept. I did not find that here.

I despise youtubers who do nothing but summarize already-existing media with nothing to add and waste my time. I see over and over again this repeated "acknowledgement of existence" technique that youtubers employ where they will find a relatively niche or obscure topic outside of the Youtube sphere, summarize it for the normie audience, and leave it at that. It is very rare that I find an actual thesis or really any point whatsoever to much of the content I see posted nowadays. It is all surface-level garbage with no point, meaning, rhyme or reason that only exists to take up space.
This isn't specifically directed towards you by the way and if you enjoyed the video that's fine, these are more my frustrations with Youtube and content creation in general, please don't take my sperging personally.

Nah, all good. I enjoyed it because I hadn't read the book in a while and wanted a refresher.

Not sure if this fits the thread but Farrell McGuire uploaded a bait and switch video "I'm Over It" on Friday. The implication and thumbnail leads you to believe something terrible has happened to him or his channel only for it to be a promotion for his musical passion project. Pretty gay.

Regardless, I will still recommend his channel to the uninitiated. Took me a while to adjust to his face and awkward cadence as that puts me off a channel instantly however he doesn't recycle content quite as egregiously as other Horrortubers and keeps a weekly schedule - still pissed my Friday horrorslop turned out to be a shitty music video *sigh*

Ngl the Hokum one got me pretty good, I'd also recommend it as I found it to be a decent movie.

Also, the problem with splatterpunk is that it's "controversial" something Hollywood is allergic to, so they won't try to replicate the success of Terrifier

After seeing his true power during the TheQuartering downfall, I'd rather deal with any other AH monster than PPP.

He's WELL-SPOKEN!
He has RECEIPTS!
He ruins CAREERS!
WHOAAAAAAAAAAA BUDDDDDDDDYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY

An ephemeral spirit that haunts a group of people, constantly mocking them and listing their faults while making annoying sounds to get their attention would be an interesting concept.

The one in Caveat does get to me. Not because the image is scary though. Just the idea of being stuck in a confined space and knowing that there is someone else in there with me that is not supposed to be there.

Internet Investigator video about the DiCE Discord Cult. What she does early on is sperg out about "transphobia". Pedos do not deserve to have their pronouns respected. Instead, they should be thrown feet first into a woodchipper.

So Dire Trip dropped this video on that crazy bitch who killed her sister in a car crash and livestreamed it.
Granted, this case has been talked about to death but I had no idea her life fucking spiraled after that. You could make the argument that her behavior right after was a trauma response, sort of like Logan Paul and Japan - that said, just like Logan and Japan, you still have to be fucked to even consider sharing that shit to the world.

And it seems like reckless driving was embedded into her DNA or some shit because she could not stop driving like a fucker, sober or otherwise.

Even worse, after the incident, she seemed super indifferent to the fact that she got her own sister killed and refused to take any time to reflect on her actions, going in and out of prison like it was her summer home.

The justice system is a joke, though. That it took her death to put an end to her bullshit is astounding. And the father was retarded.

Logan Paul was not a trauma response. The dude went into the suicide forest looking for content and found it.
That is true, and to quote myself, basically agreeing with that sentiment;

What I meant was the reaction, not the idea.

Like I could imagine Logan, in his stupidity, was like "Content!" but I think most people still freak the fuck out seeing an actual dead body in person. Like, I don't think he laughed because he thought that shit was funny; to me, it was out of shock.

But as I stated earlier...I mean, you still have to be fucked to even consider going to a place called the Suicide Forest for content. I don't know what he thought would have happened, but I think it did leave some kind of shock response in the man. Do I feel bad for him? No.

Same thing with this Oubdulah girl.

Something something armchair psychologist but meh.

I find it hard to compare the two. The girl crashed her car and livesteamed herself with the body. She was very in the moment and you can argue that the adrenaline and shock clouded her judgement. Logan Paul is a professional influencer with a team who went out into the suicide forest looking for something shocking for his vlog and found it. His video was not live so he doesn't have the same excuse. He recorded it, passed it to an editor when he got back to his hotel, and even after having time to process things and the shock wore off he still decided to upload it because that was the whole point of his little adventure.

The girl was also live, drunk and on drugs (pretty sure), and probably crazy going by the rest of her actions. Logan Paul was sober and had the benefit of editing. Sure, in the moment his filming could've been a trauma response (or immaturity), but he shouldn't have included the uncensored corpse in the full upload. He knew what he was doing including it in the full video.

Anyone remember Petscop? This guy recently uploaded a pretty good theory video that finally offers something that's not tranny shit.

Although he takes some weird leaps in logic, ignores big events in the lore (Like Rainer commiting suicide) and seems very hostile to the idea of the supernatural even though the game is pretty obviously trying for something supernatural, it's at least good, well researched and not infested with "Paul is trans uwu" shit.

I haven't listened to her in ages, I forgot she was still around. Her voice is like nails on a chalkboard.
