It was ok. Without spoilers first half (Up to 1.5hr mark) is a somewhat interesting story about people. Second half? Quite a bit ropey with some bright spots but very meh story between them.

I think the mention of her being the M. Night Shyamalan of creepy pastas in the comments is a very apt description.

I can't even remember what specifically happens past the gist of it because it's incredibly boring as an AH. I remember that there's some Dog Person that is posing as a family pet or something right?

I don't think that dogman was posing as family pet, I think the protagonist encountered and befriended him as a child and later when her family dog disappeared, the dogman returned.

The core source material is from these old William Wegman skits where a guy would stick a dog's head through a shirt and do silly slice of life things with human hands but a dog head.
 
I wish there were more projects that tap into that particularly British greyness of prolonged neglect and a sort of creeping, inescapable mundanity. Scarfolk Council is probably the best known example.

And strictly AH related is (the seemingly cancelled) Morthamshire County Council series

This is a really great point that I hadn't thought about until you brought it up. Why is online english horror so USA based? At least in analog horror basically all of the popular series are based in the US and rural US at that.

They really need to let Local 58 go.

I think a great deal of it comes down to:
  1. The US has a lot more people that are also:
    1. Online and
    2. Online
  2. The UK is also a sight older, demographically speaking, than the US
It could also be the (rapidly declining) notion of the UK as rather too bucolic to be scary, "Oh no, not Mrs. Goggins from the Post Office turning out to be an eldritch horror! Who will take the minutes at the Parish hall now? And she made the best chocolate cake for the village fete!", you know?

What also makes this interesting is that the creator includes some generic "HUMANS ARE... LE BAD!!!" sperging combined with torturing and mutilating some Furry into looking more human, along with some kind of (((venting))) about MUH ANTIFURRIES.

Now I don't know about you, but when it comes to stuff like this I always assume that something is being left out. Something that might explain why such an individual is being "BOOLEED" and "ABOOSED".

As for the guy behind it, there isn't really much. The creator is known as mDOS79 and I wouldn't be shocked if this is a secret alternate account of some random FA artist. Though there are some notable posts on their Bluesky:

Turns out the guy behind it made a new game. This time you play as a chomo that grooms a kid, molests them and murders them. All while portraying said kid as the "boykisser".

While I do feel like something similar to this could help raise awareness to the "boykisser" grooming shit, it ultimately undermines itself with cheap definitely-not-DDLC style horror cliches and said "ALL CHARACTERS ARE 18+" messaging. Though the latter could probably be so that it's allowed on itch.io.

As for the creator, they're apparently 23 years old as of the time of this post.

Forgive me if this has been brought up in the thread before, but what's the consensus on Dire Trip? Trans, or just feminine looking? Some sort of hormonal issue? Great content either way but I can't help but think about it whenever I watch one of his videos. I notice some redditors already starting to begin the troops against him so that's a bit disheartening as I feel he's one of the more entertaining true crimetubers out right now.
 
I finally got around to watching Nexpo’s Darkwood video. It’s some of his best work in a long time - not really saying much there. He made the video about the game and not his retarded interpretation of it. I guess he is learning that his juxtaposition in videos doesn’t do anything to enhance them. Quite the opposite, really.

Even then, he really undersold the game (even though he shilled for the sequel at the end). Darkwood is one of the creepiest games I’ve played of recent memory, only falling to Look Outside which is a terrific game.

Leave the video on in the background, or just pick up the game yourself. It’s quite fun. Congrats to Nexpo for making a gaming video that didn’t suck. The whole Petscop shit is still some of the worst and gayest things I’ve ever subjected myself to in my entire life

On a more serious note, Christ almighty, Columbine did horrible things to the public consciousness like no other crime. Ignoring the immediate tragedy and the aftermath and the impact on the families and survivors, it has somehow manifested in a bunch of retarded losers globally worshiping Harris and Klebold over the years.

Am I missing something? What is it to worship? I've never understood it. Maybe because I'm not a psycho wanting to shoot up places because my feefees were hurt or whatever.

thats all it boils down to really, they now have a reason or a broken seal that they can do the same, so its admiration that they have justification for their actions now.

Or delusions that they are somehow righteous in what they are doing.

Might just be a speech thing. Youtuber Joshua Fluke has a similar mannerism with his voice -- sounds high pitched and whiny despite being in his 40's -- and he acknowledges it. As for why redditards hate Dire Trip, is it because he's made videos about niggers and trannies committing crimes? I mean, he equally makes videos about white male criminals and alt right incels too, so I don't see what the issue is.
