New Wave / Coldwave / Synthpop / Minimal Wave / Minimal Synth - New Romantic and Post-Punk are fine, too.

Almost 40 years after they took a break – without really knowing why – is TRES back. The Swedish synthpop band that was born out of vacuum cleaner hoses, Porta Studios and cheap drum machines in 80's Landskrona has unexpectedly reunited, rediscovered and stepped up on stage again. With a single single from 1985, a cult-declared demo archive and a newfound audience, TRES is now telling its story. About friendship, minimal wave, the detours of life – and the feeling of standing live for the first time in almost four decades, as if time has both stood still and passed by.
How was TRES formed from the beginning, and what do you remember most from your early years together? What did music, friendship and creativity look like at the time?
Christian: No idea how it really started. We were classmates and somehow I and Jacob ended up with me and started singing in vacuum cleaner hoses and banging and banging on everything possible to find strange sounds.
Anders: Our greatest musical influences at the time were, as I remember it, Depeche Mode, Kraftwerk, Yazoo, Human League, Lustans Lakejer, Ratata, Reeperbahn and other typical artists. Personally, I'm still drawn a lot to synth-based music, but today I listen to most things that I experience as good, regardless of genre.
What has it been like to start rehearsing for the reunion? Has the chemistry and sound remained, or have you had to “recover” how you played together? I guess all the basics have been recreated – put them in the “muscle memory”?
Anders: When we met in the summer of 2024, we quickly noticed that the chemistry between us was still very good. We therefore decided to conduct the gig in Antwerp and then evaluate whether we wanted to continue TRIES as a bookable act.

Lars: It was great to see the boys again after almost 40 years. I remember worrying about how it was going to go, but I'm sure. Most of it sat right away. The chemistry was still there.
