This week's theme: Same Name, Different Movie.
KIWI FARMS MOVIE NIGHT

What's this?

Kiwi Farms Movie Night is a long running tradition of Kiwi Farms in which users of the forum group watch various movies, videos, documentaries, and other oddities found on the Internet and beyond. Every Friday to Sunday users hang out to watch some of the best cinema to grace the screen, or some of the worst footage to be found in the dump! Every Friday follows a theme selected the weekend before, with Saturday and Sunday any leftovers get mixed in with whatever users bring. Things kick off around noon but primetime starts around 6:00-7:00pm EST.
Why can't I see anything?

You need to install Tampermonkey! This is what allows the script for Cytube to run videos hosted on Google Drive. Make sure you are signed into a secondary google account prior to joining. Chromium based users will have additional things to setup which can be found at the top of the banner on the Cytube page.

Please join in and have a good time.

That was a fun movie night.
Dreamwork's Sinbad was like a throwback to older adventure movies. I don't quite understand why people were so allergic to 2d animated stuff back in the 2000s, I get why CGI was seen as the shiny new thing but why did no one wanted to see this?

And The Avengers (1998) was a silly British spy thriller. I'm surprised how hated this thing was back then. I've never seen the original TV show but it didn't felt at all like the 'worst movie of all time' material that people made it out to be. Sean Connery played a James Bond esq villain that was basically Mr Freeze from Batman and Robin but with a teddy bear suit scene that was fun.

The CGI recreation of the first Pokémon movie felt kinda pointless. Like if this was a student project I could kinda respect it. But it ironed out all the extremely cheesy moments like Team Rocket dressing as Vikings and Ash going "Vikings are mostly from Minnesota, I think.". Just meh.

Tim Burton's Charlie and the Chocolate Factory is such of a strange mess of things that almost make a good film but never manages to cross that finish line. Like you could never top the Gene Wilder version but this tried. Parts of Johnny Depp's Wonka feel like Michael Jackson but am I the only one who notices some Pee Wee Herman in him too? Would it have been better if Paul Reubens had played Wonka? Still I did loved the scene with the melting indian palace and the daddy issues subplot with Christopher Lee and Wonka hugging him and Charlie's Grandma at the end. Charlie's mom is also Marla Singer. Like if you think about it, if Snowpiecer could be an unoffical sequel to the 1971 version of Wonka then Fight Club could be an unofficial Prequel to this Wonka. Did you know the Squirrels in the nut room scene were actually real?

There was also that 80s version of Snow White where she is a lot dumber and this time falls for multiple tricks from the evil queen.

Might be more movies not listed, but good place to start. I think movies once banned but had the banned over turned is also fair game

Also got done a upload guide for the site I use, happy to send it to anyone who wants it, but going avoid posting it in public.
The Weimar group is interesting. Of the four only one of them wasn’t rebanned by the Nazis, that one being a Mickey Mouse cartoon with picklehaubs. The others were anti-war/religion or gay (but doctors were allowed to watch for “research” lol).

I’m split. The modern “ban” list is due to violating code 131 which is a depictions of violence code. This does not make them illegal to own or watch but rather to distribute (does this mean importing is an option?). Stuff like Riki-Oh and Evil Dead were on this list. I even see a women in prison film on there. It appears many have been coming off this list and are being given 18+ ratings. I’m just one bean in the counter but I think limiting the films to exclude these ones would behoove us. Many of them are KF classics and this could be an opportunity to see something new.

At one point Hitler banned all Warner Bros movies too lololol
