I have never been more conflicted. On one hand, declaring Antifa a domestic terrorist group is great. On the other hand, praising New Jersey sickens me to my very core.

The First Amendment right of freedom of association pretty much precludes the government from just unilaterally declaring any group illegal.
Without due process and an actual trial, the government just can't do that shit.
People are allowed to gather into groups together for any reason or no reason, unless there's an actual trial where the people and/or groups are actually convicted of something.
How fucking dumb do you have to be to think the government should have the power just to declare random groups of people illegal without any trial whatsoever?

Partially because it's a new story. It needs to take some time to get to the mainstream.
The other reason is because a lot of left wing sites and op-eds have been praising antifa. It would be a pretty massive embarrassment to admit the movement you've been cheering on is now considered a domestic terror organization by the government. Plus "domestic terrorism" is a buzzword the hard-left likes to use solely for right wing movements. If more states start declaring antifa domestic terrorism then expect places like Huffpost, Salon and Buzzfeed to delete pro-antifa articles and pretend the movement never existed.

This is what pisses me off. Antifa has always been garbage. They've always been reactionary idiots who just randomly attack people. The whole "movement" just consists of violent idiots who want to attack random strangers. Even most of their violent crimes aren't even against their declared enemies, but just against some guy who happened to be standing around when they decided to commit a violent crime. They literally exist just to attack innocent bystanders.
Antifa are scum, vermin.
This has always been the case. The spiritual predecessors of antifa are the people who fought with Hitler's Nazis in the streets, and were so pathetic and such failures at it that they literally put Hitler in power.

After days of violence and heightened racial tensions in the U.S., the White House responded this week to an online petition asking the federal government to formally label the Black Lives Matter movement as a "terror group."
"Terrorism is defined as 'the use of violence and intimidation in pursuit of political aims,'" read the "We The People" petition, created July 6 on the White House website. "This definition is the same definition used to declare ISIS and other groups, as terrorist organizations."
Black Lives Matter, the petition said, "earned this title due to its actions in Ferguson, Baltimore, and even at a Bernie Sanders rally, as well as all over the United States and Canada." It asked the Pentagon to recognize the group as such "on the grounds of principle, integrity, morality, and safety."
Because the online document received at least 100,000 signatures -- at the time of this reporting, it had garnered over 141,000 names -- the White House was automatically prompted to respond.
The "We the People" team noted that "The White House plays no role in designating domestic terror organizations," nor does the U.S. government "generate a list of domestic terror organizations."
