Man of Steel was in 2013, The Witcher started in 2019. The Justice League bombing in 2017 basically killed his role as Superman.
...did you really completely miss them bringing Henry back in Black Adam and making a big show of him getting another Superman film only to then hand the reins to Gunn and him telling Cavil to piss off?

It basically happened in tandem with him leaving The Witcher.

He was in Black Adam for a whole 5 seconds during a credits stinger. That movie also bombed, as did the Flash, Blue Beetle, and Shazam 2. As far as him getting another Superman movie, all I can find is him talking about being interested in it and WB being noncommittal (they apparently even turned down one of Cavill's own pitches for it in 2018).

So you did miss it. Cool.

okay, genuine question: i know whatever the answer is its going to piss me off, but why the fuck are they trying to retcon dandelions name to being jaskier!?!!? i was watching a clip from sirens of the deep and geralt calls dandelion jaskier??? i thought this was just a live action netflix thing?!!? whyyyyyyyyyy

The monumental ego of lying Jimmy Gunn killed his role as Superman. He's done everything he can to eradicate the pre Gunn/Saffron DC establishment going to the extent of actually saying it would be a clean slate. Apart from his own stuff of course.

Those in control of both the DC and Witcher franchises have demonstrated that they believe Cavill's presence increases audience.

The Black Adam credits tease referred to by @Problematic User Forever was not included to give fans the message "we know you hate this guy as Superman but he's still the guy so fuck you". It was the opposite. A stunt to tell the fanbase he was still in the role and the only reason for doing that is because they thought that would be positive going forward. There is no other rational conclusion. The shortness of the stunt just reinforces that - it builds up positive sentiment going forward for minimal effort. It was the quintessential bait and switch and the thing about the bait in a bait and switch is it has to be what the intended recipient wants - that's the whole point.

For the Witcher we had, after it was public that Cavill was on his way out, an actual publicity campaign for the last Cavill material based on reassuring potential viewers that Cavill was still playing the role (at that time).

In both cases it's "creatives" (I use the quotes as they seem to destroy rather more than they create) who had the deluded arrogant self confidence to believe that whilst they know the audience wants Cavill they know better and will better succeed without him. Because they are just so talented. Only they aren't. It's the same mentality that leads to "creatives" ignoring or consciously deviating from the source material that made the IP they are standing on the shoulders of, successful in the first place. And it usually ends in disaster. Who could possibly have seen that coming?

Pretty sure that's the character's actual name in the Polish books. Jaskier translates to Buttercup, a type of flower, but they thought it sounded too feminine for the English translation so it was changed to Dandelion and kept for the games. Although the show might as well just call him Buttercup since they turned him into a faggot anyways.

I read that Anya Chalotra literally broke down in tears when she found out Henry was leaving. Even she knew how utterly fucked the show was. Liam's voice is way too posh and proper sounding to play Geralt. Fucking Hell, they literally lit tens of millions of dollars on fire to get this abortion out the door.
Decades of easily adaptable stories, a movie star superfan and a large budget. You'd have to be testicle-armour level stupid to mess this up.
I don't think casting was as bad as people say. Ciri and Dandelion were perfectly cast. Anya was great, but she'd have made a better Yen due to her youthfulness.
I would have cast Denise Gough as Yen, the woman who already voiced her in the game, and an amazing screen actress. She's old enough to convincingly play Freya's mother-figure and pretty enough to be Cavile's love-interest.

Is it just me or are the action scenes more brutal and gorier in season 4? Almost like they're trying to make up for Henry's absence.
There's a lot more Gerald on screen doing Gerald things. Also a lot of faggot nigger stuff too, but a lot more Gerald...it seems like someone started tard wrangling behind the scenes to try and make something that isn't utter dogshit. It's also closer to the book plot now, although for some reason they insert unnecessary deviations (i.e. they introduce some human lover into Regis' backstory rather than him just getting shitfaced drunk on blood and getting his head chopped off as the reason for him going dry). The Rats vs Bonhart scene is perfect.

Última edición:
I don't like Liam's posh and proper Shakespearean voice for Geralt.

I understand this show doesn't give even the slightest fuck about the lore or source material but Geralt isn't some educated noble he's a lowborn peasant.

And when looking for clips of Bonhart merking the diversity gang, I discovered two things.
The actor is the same guy who was the lead in District 9, which is why he's great, and also feels like he's making some of his lines up as he goes.
Netflix made a Witcher spin off movie all about the diversity gang, that was released 2 weeks ago to absolutly zero marketing.
