So it looks like Catherine Full Body is getting censored and dialogue is gonna be shifted around.

A quote from IGN:
Certain characters are properly named in the credits. (You’ll understand this if you were tuned into the controversy surrounding previous editions of Catherine.) Some lines may have been changed about this character as well.

All they're doing is changing a name though.

Like that's calling Optimus Prime censorship because his original name is Convoy.

Japanese and English are not 1:1 translations to begin with so yeah shifting words and phrases around is what has to happen.

Reading further it just looks like they're just changing shit like him/her in sentences. The context of the scenes don't change.

I dunno this really isn't censorship and seems to be clickbait. None of the images were changed or altered or were the sequence of events fucked with.

You weren't around for the initial controversy, were you? Basically in a new ending the character Erica doesn't transition, allegedly, because Catherine makes it so that everyone gets a happy ending. Even the VA of Erica got involved with it demanding that Atlus do something about it. They're changing the tone and message to appease ResetERA, the same people that wanted Hoshino fired for something that likely wasn't anything he wrote.

They're now setting their sights on changing the "homophobic" stuff in Persona 5.

no I knew of that, but that ending is still in the game but they're just changing the phrasing and will still be named as Erica in the credits instead of Eric.

The context seems to be still the same.

In the Japanese version IIRC it's just a still image and really nothing is said about it. It's something that the audience has to pick up or notice. It's kind of hard to erase stuff that didn't exist in the first place.

It's a group shot and he's kinda in the background. All the articles about it are zoomed the fuck in making it seem like it's a major focal point.

I am nearly 100% certain that this is a Fractured But Whole situation where they developer/publisher is faking a controversy for free publicity and once the game comes out nothing of any real significance was changed and Resetera will be unhappy.

Spoilers: There's a character called Tobias who has a crush on Erica, but becomes the butt of jokes for it when he sleeps with her. Erica herself even has nightmares because she's keeping him from being with someone who can have children, a stigma in Japan apparently despite their low birthrate, and you have to save her so she can overcome it. They actually end things on a positive note in a true ending, but because he laments losing his virginity to Erica that ResetERA took that as transphobic. Expect changes to this dialogue.

There's always changes to Japanese dialogue when translating to english. Being that they're not removing the level or anything it's still going to be the same context in english because the level and series of events will still exist. There's limits to what they can do with translating, unless they go full Kung Pao Enter the Fist and make every line a joke it's going to be next to impossible to not make it seem like he regrets getting tranny fish scale pussy.

Right... Because there hasn't been a history of Japanese works getting changed to the detriment of the plot. Atlus themselves were guilty of this with Steambot Chronicles if I remember right.

I feel like you're deliberately missing the reason for these changes.

Steambot chronicles got a machine translation towards the end because they ran out of time. Same thing happened with Tales of Berseria in the post game because you're going to notice visible mistranslated words which jumbled phrases together due to how fast the characters were speaking.

More than likely the Trannies are not going to ge tthe victory that they think they are. There's a real high chance that someone used a thesaurus because that's how english works.

If you change a phase like "I'm going to murder him" to "I'm going to kill him" or even take it a step further and alter it to "I'm going to punch him" or go entirely out the window and change the phase to "I'm going to beat him up"(which won't sync with the mouth movements) the context of all these phrases are still the same. Character A wants to harm character B.

I'm not so certain given that the English VA herself said she was working with the localization team to make sure it's sensitive. Usually Atlus drops VAs that give them trouble, but she went out of her way to enter the drama and still seems to hold her job. If they dropped her I'd be more likely to believe you, but since they didn't and she's been an active participant in making sure Erica is done "justice"... I'm thinking it's changed for political reasons and likely will match what they want.

The VA herself seems pretty much on the same wavelength as ResetERA.

She's effectively set herself up to be tarred and feathered by Resetera then. They're going to proclaim that she didn't do shit and that they're still hurt.
