"If you are carrying a firearm, why not just fire a warning shot?"
I only got basic safety training with firearms and never fired one or trained to be a cop, but isn't there a chance that the 'warning shot' may hit one of the other people at the scene? Wouldn't that be a VERY BAD thing especially if you probably have to shoot the threat anyway, meaning that the injury was avoidable? The reason why I say this is because I'm assuming by 'warning shot' they mean a shot aimed at nearby dirt or the ground which may ricochet or bounce or something. But they may be implying that bullets shot into the air disappear instead of injuring someone far away, meaning any EMS showing up would have to find and treat them as well.
Typing it out makes it sound like any warning shot seems unnecessary compared to just shooting and neutralizing the threat but SURELY ResetERA wouldn't talk about things they don't understand fully like me, right?
