subj, i've been busy firewalling my router as of late and figured out i've left one most sensitive places of all shit imaginable - my fucking phone and i do not trust googla play nor github anime profile haxxors with shit. Does anyone has experience of doing so and how so?

Don't get what you're trying to do.

Phones use permissions, routers and Windows have firewalls built in.

Unless you're installing a ton of garbage that you don't trust and need to monitor exactly what they're doing, you shouldn't need this.

Do you actually have a clear definition of why you're trying to "firewall" everything?

More than likely all you're going to do is kill your battery or brick your phone.

I don't want to power level too much on tech shit, but what the fuck are you doing bro?

That's not how a firewall works. And given what you're saying, you have a fictional understanding of a firewall. Which means you have no idea what you're actually doing. Which means whatever you're actually doing is potentially dangerous or stupid or both on your network.

Can you explain what the fuck you're doing without using jargon?

Custom OS's allow deeper modification of app permissions, so you can stop the on-screen keyboard from connecting to google, which I never really understood, anyone else pulls that shit and its considered a keylogger.

You can get firewall apps for phones (not that i've used them but I assume they work like any other firewall), not that they're really that useful unless you want to put an ftp server on your phone and restrict access to certain hosts. Not sure how effective but since it can talk over IP, I don't see why not.

It's best to say what you are trying to do so everyone isn't so confused. Be careful though, you may really fuck up your phone

firewalls block incoming network connections. theoretically if you don't have anything listening then it renders the point of the firewall moot. firewalls are okay for defense-in-depth security, and android is basically linux, so you could use nftable/iptables, but really just:
if you care that much, use whatever louis rossman and edward snowden say to use.

or if you're normie enough but want to suffer, iphones have this 'lockdown mode':

and also 'advanced data protection':

also you can google for more but any of the (jurnoscum) digital safety guide type things cover really what you should do:

overall it comes down to who your adversary is and the level of resources you're willing and/or able to muster against it/them.
for example, in no universe would a mtgox ever be able to survive not getting throughoughly hacked since the 'bounty' was just too high.

so a real strat is to 'gray man' where you just don't make yourself a target.
try to get the thieves/niggers/jews to target the nice looking car in the lot, not your dusty and scratched car.

netguard seems pretty good for the thing, will check afwall later

i really shouldnt post when tired but i was looking for some way to have dns blocklists on the phone so i wont be busy getting ads or otherwise have my phone do glowy shit behind my back

A firewall is a really shitty way to block ads. Blanket blocking domains rather than a web extension that can look at individual requests is not a good way to do this.

I don't know what you mean by "glowy shit" you may be the first human ever to mutter those words back to back. What the fuck does that mean and what's the actual problem?
