The link is to a 2018 page on Tom Scott's site that is pretty damning. Tom talks about how Reddit is known for harassment campaigns, which is 100% true (anybody remember the Boston Bomber?)

The worst part is how Reddit got close to doxing him, and not only that, they vandalised his Wikipedia article as well. I don't even know why they would do this, it's not like Tom Scott was canceled in 2018.

Reddit starting harassment campaigns and cowtipping people they deem acceptable targets is not surprising. What is surprising is that nobody seems to even know about the shit they did to Tom Scott.

But none of those reasons are good enough for this Redditor, who says that he should change his mind because Reddit is "mainstream."

Gee, I wonder why Tom wouldn't change his mind about a site that almost-doxed him for no reason and vandalised his Wikipedia page for laughs, especially when that site still facilitates harassment campaigns to this day with basically no intervention from the admins.

Note: it appears to be published under Nebula's own publishing imprint (which I think has previously only ever published Salmonella's weird af Scifi sexy short stories book?) Since Lindsay is a partial owner of Nebula, I consider that self-publishing (although I'm sure Boston Brand can offer more insight/a better explanation).

Maybe my prediction from a few years ago, that Lindsay's writing career is destined to end up in the weird self-published "there's Nazis on the moon!" conspiracy book section of gun shows, was prophetic? 🤔

Is there a reason you're posting every video this guy makes? This is a lolcow thread. I'm not interested in sports content, but I did watch a video of his on a game show and it was fine. He doesn't seem like a lolcow or even a Breadtuber.

Doesn't this stuff belong in Multimedia? I get it's Nebula related, but it isn't lolcow. The thread isn't very active because Wiskus doesn't post much and the cows that use Nebula have their own threads.

He used to be fantastic (seriously, his mouse utopia and Austrian wine scandal videos are great) but fell off hard in the Eve Online endless video. Net neutral for all involved.

The Deep Blue video had me enthralled and I don't even like chess. Knudson will fit right in at Nebula though, as it really does seem that a low percentage of their creators put out videos with a greater than quarterly frequency. With the minimal amount of Nebula exclusive content, ready availability of everything else of YouTube and low generation of any new content, Nebula is basically a repository. Is there a single creator who has bet the farm on Nebula and pulled their content entirely from YT? Lindsay Ellis is the closest and even she's been posting more on YT to draw more viewers to Nebula.
 
Found out from Knudsen that apparently the reason Tom Scott stopped making Youtube videos is that he started posting all of his videos on Nebula (although apparently being bullied by Lindsay Ellis played a large part in that decision). Let me explain how stupid of a decision that was. Tom Scott was a very popular Youtuber, however there was absolutely nothing about Tom Scott himself that made his videos popular, they were just mildly interesting videos with broad appeal. I can directly prove this, because his Youtube footprint was replaced by a new Youtuber named Chris Spargo very quickly.
Here's his video explaining how he became a "Youtuber", and three of the top 4 comments say exactly the same thing I just said.

As someone who recently had to set up some new computers, I often came to the youtube frontpage before any profiling was done. Youtube pushes a few broad categories, part because they don't know what you like so they pick whatever's popular, part because they want people watching big popular things so they cna focus on nurturing their big talent rather than having to deal with a million tiny channels that are all somewhat popular.
One is mainstream news
One is big mildly interesting youtubers
One is fragments of popular TV shows (talent shows and such).

I don't know if the algorithm is savvy enough to recognize preferred creators, or there is someone at youtube marking channels as preferred authors, but Tom scott and now this spargo guy are marked as safe, and therefore get pushed.
 
Nebula must be low on funds (or the Nebula CEO finally grew himself a pair of balls) 'cause for the past month or so, Nebula-nepobaby (IDK, whatever you call high up Nebula creators) Maggie Mae Fish has been e-begging to get financing for a Blowup Doll themed short horror movie (yuck):

I've noticed no mention of the film being on Nebula. Hm, maybe they're gonna spitefully keep it off Nebula, due to CEO not providing funding? 🤔
 
Tom Scott made a Nebula-"exclusive" video (that's also on YouTube because he likes making money) about the technically advanced Victorian-era house of Baron William Armstrong, the inventor of modern hydraulics:

It's a good video (minus a few soy moments), up until the point where Tom learns that Armstrong was also the inventor of modern artillery. Then both him and the curator hate on the genius' legacy for the "crime" of selling weapons to nation states.

Should check if he was around for the Crimean war. Because im sure Tom would think he was amazing for selling guns to push the Russians out of Crimea.

I assume those people are employed by nebula and all need a credit because they looked at the vid for 5 seconds and gave feedback.
