Want to save planet Earth? You could apply for NASA's Planetary Protection Officer role.

The National Aeronautics and Space Administration is currently looking for someone with a secret security clearance to ensure alien life, or "organic-constituent and biological contamination" doesn't make it's way back in a space ship.

More than that, this person is "responsible for the leadership of NASA's planetary protection capability, maintenance of planetary protection policies, and oversight of their implementation by NASAs space flight missions," according to the job listing.

Candidates must have "advanced knowledge of Planetary Protection," experience overseeing nationally significant space programs and have demonstrated "skills in diplomacy that resulted in win-win solutions during extremely difficult and complex multilateral discussion." After all, protecting the planet is sure to present challenges.

Requirements include frequent travel. Could business trips include intergalactic travel? Men in Black, is that you?

That's a lot of responsibility for one person, which is why the job comes with a six-figure pay: $124,406 to $187,000 annually.

Thanks for keeping us safe, NASA.

Brianna should apply. She has a keen knowledge of gravity well physics and totally has a degree in "planetary protection" I'm serious for real.
She actually spent an entire summer in her youth on the international space station helping the other astronauts make repairs. She's uniquely qualified for this.

So just be able to read write, and read space novels and I get six figures a year? I want a job app

You sound like you're mocking the idea of protecting humanity from aliens.

Fuck you, you alien Nazi sympathizer!

I nominate Christopher Powell, aka Darkhawk.

Because
A) I think his powers are space-based. Any case, he's got like... zoomy wings and a grappling hook for like... grappling... grappling the aliens.
B) Pretty sure he hasn't done anything in like the last decade.
C) I really miss 90s comics. I also miss love, but that's beside the matter.
D) Your selection isn't any better.

I'm perfect for this job. I have read so much sci-fi, I'm sure I could find similarities with any number of fictional alien species and find a common trait with any real aliens I might encounter.
