Sorry for the bump of this old thread but MLP: Frienship is Magic will go more woke as if wasn't woke enough.

These youtubers gived some chuckles as well as food for thoughts.
Lolstalgic
Twilight Sparkle: This isn't friendship! This is bullshit!
Luke Skywalker: First Time?
The Doctor: First Time?
Ghost Busters First Time?
General Zin draken
As a former hardcore brony, this is gonna end so badly.... the brony community was already inclusive (back when it ACTUALLY meant something) but this, this is gonna be Steven Universe 2 Pony Boogaloo... where its gonna horrible pandering and writting where the only people who would watch it (outside of the most hardcore of bronies) would be the intolerant screeching overweight grown up toddlers who wouldn't but anything to support the show. Since this is Hasbro, they might start with ponies as a testing ground before moving on with their biggest bread winners, Power Rangers and Transformers.

The thing that (alongside the likes of Nostalgia Critic, Linkara and etc.) corrupted TVTropes, as if it were a shitty website already.

Okay, so this is a necro, my apologizes, but; has there been anything noteworthy out of MLP or the fandom for the past several years? From what I've seen, MLP in general seems to be pretty much dead; there's the G5 season that's ongoing, but I haven't heard anything about it, nor much from the fandom these days. Anyone got anything?

The main thing is Chris Chan's continuous spergouts over it and seething about how Friendship is Magic must be revived for a few more seasons.

Then blaming G5 for stuff like the Ukraine War, the war in Israel, and every bad thing ever, even claiming it to be demonic.

Huh. Kinda figured there'd be more - give G5's focus on racial divisions and such - but at least the fandom's quieted down, for the most part. Still, I expect to see something in the future; given how insane the brony fandom is (was?), I imagine that there's going to be something, sometime.

I really hope there's nothing else; can this fandom just die off, already?

It died only in that the series ceased being new, and thus the turbospergs joined the greater Autistic Nomad horde, drifting from one flash in the pan fad to the next. Amphibia, owl house, and the like were all comprised of former bronies.

Saberspark will be outted as pedophile soon though.

After the G5 movie, there was a drop in quality, plus the circumstances that created the fandom in the first place were basically lightning in a cum jar bottle. There was never going to be a big fandom revival. There's still a fandom, but way smaller and quieter.

Here's hoping that the bronies stay quiet for good; I mean, that's admittedly something of an impossibility, but it's nice to dream, right?

Nearly all the "professional fans" who made mlp their identity have either disappeared, been outed as pedophiles for real like mandopony, or trooned out like damn near all the big musicians did. The best case scenario is that the blazing inferno of autism that outshone even sonic the hedgehog dwindles into a few small embers of people who just enjoy the show and keep to themselves.

Give the Animal Control version of the thread a read, it has more information.

The old fandom is pretty much as dead as can be, outside of a few individuals who cared for the characters and the message, the current majority right now is just porn addicts keeping the relevancy going through gooning, or our boys at the chan who "have learned to write better".

The resurgence on tik tok however of new watchers has been the most baffling thing to me- most of it is either old ships the fandom has already discarded to the ocean or, even weirder, horror AUs, here's two of the most popular:

-My Little Worms - A Disease Story - This is a very deranged off-the-wall premise that can only be compared to having a seizure and animating it.
-Black Tree - I can't find one better cataloging this, so just mute the "I'm so quirky" fag and read, you don't lose anything.

Okay, I just watched the first two-parter of FiM. It didn't really impress me. Watching these 40 minutes was way too much of a chore, it was too dragged out and full of clichés. Rarity was kinda cute and if she was a legally-aged human female I would waifu her in a heartbeat, but I still don't get the appeal of the show. Does it ever get good? Which seasons/episodes are the best ones to watch?

The opening two-parter sucks, but it settles into a rhythm for a bit. Then season two starts and the show goes downhill.

However, the show even at its best, was basically a mid-tier eighties cartoon* that came out at a time where it had no competition and so seemed glorious by default. If you have any appreciation for classics then MLPFIM is gonna be a hard sell. It helps also to be going through a depressing phase in your life.

* keeping in mind I'm saying this as a guy who thinks eighties cartoons are peak, "mid-tier eighties" is easily leagues better than what else would've been considered top-tier in the 2000s.

the one where they go to Mainland China and it's Harrison Bergeron was kinda cool
also usually if there's a voice actor you can go OH SHIT THAT GUY like the Q guy or I think Tim Curry was probably in it somewhere, I think he didn't have his stroke yet?

also iirc they did a pretty good job of wiggling out of "due to the new playset and toy, she always had a brother and we just never mentioned it"

It worked because before that point, Twilight never really spoke about her past, so its fully conceivable that she just happened to have a bro she never mentioned.

For me the biggest issue with the series was the times it would slip into superhero territory. This is why I felt the opening two-parter fell flat. I really just could not buy these girls (save maybe Applejack and Rainbow Dash) as heroines--any time they had to do that, it felt like the characters were bending over backwards to fit the role. When it decided to be more slice of life I felt like it found its stride.... then season 2 begins and its like let's have them fight a Chaos God!

Imagine if Lucky Star's author suddenly decided there would be an arc where the Lucky Star girls have to fight Freeza, and its played almost entirely straight. I'm sure there's idiots who would find that cool, but for most people it would be "if I wanted DBZ, I would read DBZ."

There's other problems I had with that too but its just not worth ranting about.
