I mean everyone has their perks and then there’s stuff you’re absolute dogshit at. While I’m a relatively good at drawing, I can’t do anything remotely musical to save my life, so I don’t waste time with it. It’s all about capitalizing on your talents and minimizing your faults.
But if you are set on drawing, know that it will take tremendous time and effort because it isn’t one of your natural perks. Start with drawing some simple shapes and playing around with lighting references online. Everything is comprised of shapes so it’s important that you walk before you can run. I find that mechanical pencils are easier for sketching because the graphite can be erased easily, and it spares you from having to sharpen every once in a while.
As mentioned above, should you venture into computer drawings, you ought to get used to MSpaint before moving on to bigger leagues. Krita is also an amazing piece of free software, though the UI might be a little advanced for newbies. Digital sketches also call for you to invest in a graphics tablet, which can be on the pricey side for a basic one and requires a lot of getting used to since you can’t look at where your hand is going when you draw. I mean, mouse is also an option I guess but fuck that.
Tldr; there’s no use in improving something you’re total ass at and you should focus your energy into something you’re good at. But if you wanna draw, power to you man. Start on simple lined paper and work your way up to printer paper.
