I haven't seen a thread for this genre of music, so I guess I'll start one. I really like listening to Charley Pride. His gospel country music is really good. I love to kick back, relax, and drink some bourbon to it. This is how I feel the Holy Spirit in me.

I actually sang in a gospel concert just yesterday. Here's some footage from the rehearsal right before the live that someone recorded. Rehearsal was a bit shaky, but the live was quite hype, though I haven't found a recording of it.


EDIT: Here's another angle from the rehearsal. If you're wondering how we got the crowd to fit during the live considering each and every seat and the fucking rafters were filled with singers, the solution was to have two concerts back to back with half of the people singing in each concert.

I'm sure this isn't actually gospel gospel as you all mean it, but I was wanting to share this somewhere.
I started to fall into the neo-R&B/gospel rabbit hole (beginning with Jesus is King) and I found this.

What strikes me about this, besides it just being beautiful, is that I feel like it's a rare example of Christian eroticism in music. It's something I heard about long ago and have never been able to actually find online, but this preacher was talking about a movement that draws from the same kind of aesthetic, feeling, as romantic (erotic meant more like eros than like erotica) subject matter.

This singing has that feeling, to me is sultry. Slow dancing in the dark music. But it works very well. Slow dancing with God. It's an image that could put a person off when you're hung up on the Bible using -as a convention - male-gendered words to refer to an entity that, in reality, has no gender because it is a being entirely alien to a human being except in having a rational intellect, and even then beyond comprehension. I tend to think of the world (this may not match your particular Christianity) as the dream of God, and this has a smooth, dreamlike quality like I'm floating in that stream of consciousness, with a deep catharsis from it.

It reminds me of the people who interpret Song of Solomon as being allegorical for the Man-God relationship.
