So since Fantano has a thread here, I am wondering what music review channels do you actually recommend or find off-putting.

Examples of a few that I either personally love or dislike to a degree, that isn't Fantano and why.

ARTV: Don't really like him because of several factors

1. Praising Mediocre albums, off the top of my head:
Collide with the Sky by Pierce the veil - 5/5
Infinity on High by Fallout Boy - 5/5
Science Fiction by Brand New - 5/5 (AOTD)

2. Sperging about online hate
When the Hayley Williams solo project dropped, he gave it a 2.5/5 and when Haley fans went to his comment section, he blocked them

3. Album reviewer but hardly reviews any albums and instead goes off topic videos instead
Recent album review: Queens of the Stone Age - In Times New Roman, 6/17

Brad Taste in Music - He already has a thread here that I was a part of around since it's inception
Long story short - Don't like him

1. Melanie Martinez A Log - He is constantly trying to prove to everyone that Melanie Martinez deserves to be in jail and his fans are continually going through twitter trying to expose Melanie
even going as far to call out a Melanie defense video and made superchats off it and said he doesn't care

2. Defending Daughters after Alexis Marshall was cancelled for what he did to Lingua Ignota

3. Making videos out of streams where he is paid to listen to music

Bit of a switch up but one of my favorites is Polyphonic

Really informative videos, well researched and highly recommend his video essays about music history and albums

I know it's less detailed but as far as I know he hasn't gotten into any real controversy so I can't really explain anything else than he does well researched videos about music and has actually made engaging videos

Última edición:
Necroing this thread because I really wanted to get into Polyphonic's videos, but he injects too much politisperging.

Here's some fairly apolitical and smaller music channels I'd recommend:
  • Trash Theory: mostly video essays about British artists, but his content is well made.
  • Guitar Meets Science: up-and-coming smaller channel, uses a really barebones approach to video essays. Basically just a Boomer giving 10-minute summaries of a band's lore, and uses an old school approach with minimal editing. He even has a speech impediment and leaves in the audio errors!
  • Sea of Tranquility: panel discussion show with various guests talking about their favorite albums, worst concert experiences, least favorite songs, etc.
  • Classic Album Review: aging British Gen Xer who does basic webcam-facing videos about various topics, like his least favorite albums, favorite singers, or just random musical discussion.
  • Dancing With Ghosts: music reviewer, and A-log to Cinemassacre and Corey Feldman.
