Update: Emergency radio broadcasts indicated there are reports of multiple fatalities in an incident in North Codorus Township involving police officers.

Governor Josh Shapiro said on X that he has been briefed about the incident and is on his way to York County. He advised people to follow the directions of local law enforcement.

Pennsylvania Attorney General Dave Sunday, who is the former York County District Attorney, also is coming to York County. "I ... am praying for all involved," he said on X.

Reported earlier: Emergency responders are on the scene of a police incident in North Codorus Township, according to Ted Czech, public information officer for the York County Office of Emergency Management/York County 911.

York County radio dispatches indicate officers have been injured in the incident. A YDR reporter witnessed an officer bein
g loaded into a helicopter.

The first call came in to York County 911 around 2:10 p.m.

Numerous police and EMS units are on the scene. A landing zone has been set up for a helicopter.

It remains an active scene, Czech said.

Meanwhile, Spring Grove Area School District are sheltering students in the buildings because of the officer-involved incident that is unrelated to the students or schools, according to a statement from the district. There will be delays with transporting students.

Northern York County Regional Police Department covers North Codorus Township.

Pennsylvania State Police are not releasing any information at this time, Trooper James Grothey said.
 
this is moving pretty fast on X, most reports i've seen are either

2 cops are being airlifted
2 cops are already dead
4 cops are alread dead

it's not clear so far what the real number is but it's looking like something took a real nasty turn.

note: i edited the thread OP to specify that it's police fatalities and added the county and state. hopefully that's not against the rules.

edit; apparently this started when a guy took hostages inside a hospital. i have no idea how this leads to people being airlifted but i guess the hospital was evacuated and isn't in working capacity.

if anyone gets better info please post, things are all over the place.

Hospitals are rated for different levels of care. If you’re really fucked up, they’ll need to airlift you to a trauma 1 medical center. Guessing it’s a small, local hospital they left from
 
This is the second hospital shooter we've had in PA recently. Back in February there was another where a some whack job took hostages and killed a cop before getting put down because he was pissed that his wife died. Not sure if this is a similar situation or what.

Of course it's in York County. York itself is the Philadelphia of South Central PA and is a legitimate pain in the ass to drive to. Hanover is much easier to get to.

South Central Pennsylvania has a lot of Mexicans and their descendants mixed in with the general Irish and German descendants. Enough so that the Catholic Diocese of Harrisburg encourages priests to learn Spanish.
 
for what it's worth, the last time more than 3 cops have died in a single incident was back in 2016 baton rouge.

this is a kinda frustrating event because there's so little info out there, otherwise i'd have posted it to happenings already.

current status is 3 officers dead, 2 critical. shooter dead.
 
Seeing something like this hardly touch the front page of most media companies speaks as much volume about our country as the incident itself.

I was about to bring up the incident in Dallas where 5 cops were killed, but apparently that was also 2016 (like 2 weeks earlier). Hard to believe that was 9 years ago what the fuck
