Live-action Mulan in conceptual stages looks unnecessarily dark and gritty. I wonder how they are going to fit in Mushu.

Aladdin didn't kill off the live action remakes? Really?

Hell no. Lion King and Maleficent 2 are set for later this year, then Lady and the Tramp (on Disney+), then Mulan and Cruella (in similar vein to Maleficent), and they just pushed Little Mermaid into production. They aren't even close to being finished.

The fact that a half baked effort like Aladdin made money just further proves that Disney has mentally enslaved humanity.

Mulan doesn't look bad, and it certainly looks like it isn't trying to just remake the old animated film, which I'm fine with.

But why is Mulan not in disguise on the battlefield?

I can't wait when they start singing "making a man out of you" and Mulan snaps and rips everyone's penis off.
Imfuckingplying that song will be anywhere near this movie. Some exec is going to explain that "that song doesn't really fit into our vision of a modern Mulan film" closer to release, guarantee it.

Meh, shit movies have been making bank since the dawn of cinema.

I read that they're not putting Mushu or singing into the movie because in the animated one, both things offended people in China and caused it to be thrown out of theaters early over there. That they're going to try and stay true to the source material with this one. Gotta get them Chinabux.

I said this in a previous topic, but the funny thing there was already a live action Mulan made by China and it actually had Jackie Chan playing a badguy, probably the only movie he ever did that in. The film itself wasn't really that good, and well the only bright spot you had was Jackie playing a Mongolian warlord and just hamming it up.
