Or Santa and the Ice Cream Bunny; The Apple... and the shorts are just great. They've done more than MST3K ever did. Who can forget "Improving Your Pronunciation" with Ned Blandford?

Just saw Santa and the Ice Cream Bunny... man, even after years of watching this kind of thing, my mind was not ready.

I love MST3k but Felicia Days involvement really worries me. She's preachy, annoying, and all she's ever done was perform Terribly on 5 episodes of Buffy.

I'm not sure how I feel about this, yet. Rifftrax is the one where you would have to sync up their commentary with a separate DVD or show, right? I really liked the ones I could get but I stopped getting DVDs from Netflix and just kinda forgot about the whole thing. If this is just MST3K coming back, I'm all for it as long as the witty commentary is still as genuine as it was and I can still get a really good laugh out of it. I'll definitely give them a shot.

I had never actually heard of Felicia Day before this, and I've heard some pretty mixed opinions about her/how she will be in MST3K since. I think it's important to remember that she won't be writing all of her scenes alone, and if she really is as annoying as people say she is, Joel and the other writers will hopefully be able to tone her down.

Besides, since she's the new mad we'd probably see her for only a little bit in each episode.

I'm not that worked up about anybody I recognize or don't recognize on the cast, because who the hell ever said "Oh wow Joel Hodgson from that HBO Young Comedians Special and Late Night With David Letterman? NOW I'm fucking sold on this show, I'm still salty from him not being in UHF!"

Any ideas to which movies they'll riff? Joel has been keeping it secret; he says he wants us to be pleasantly surprised.

I myself am hoping they do "StarCrash", 1978's failed attempt at cashing in on Star Wars that makes zero sense (and features David Hasslehoff in one of his first roles). I'm honestly surprised they never did it, it seems like one of the movies right up their alley.

Some new updates from Joel. Outside of the Felicia Day stuff this looks pretty promising.

They're going to keep that secret.

Hopefully it's a better selection than Cinematic Titanic (though they did give it the best they got)
MST3K is now owned by Shout Factory, who will be responsible for clearing movie rights, which should mean they'll have a wider range available to them than Cinematic Titanic. And for those worried that Felicia Day's writing will taint the show, you need to remember we're talking about a show that has hundreds upon hundreds of jokes in each episode. According to MST veteran Paul Chaplin, only about ten percent of the offered riffs were retained. That volume of material needed prevents an overriding voice from taking over.
