I WAS THE LAST MAN STANDING AT MOVIE NIGHT 5/28, ALL OTHER PARTICIPANTS WERE LIGHTWEIGHTS AND COULDN'T HANDLE THE TWO-HOUR ART FILM'S 1.8 SECONDS OF BIG, BLACK DICK OR SIT THROUGH TANK GIRL WITHOUT A PISS BREAK

I RECOMMEND MOVIE NIGHT TO EVERYONE

GAME ON. next week you and me are gonna STEP INTO THE SQUARED CIRCLE and i'm putting on 1997's The Pest starring John Leguizamo, and if you don't stay for the film's full duration and provide enthusiastic running commentary the entire time, i'll rib you about this shameful display and lack of gall every time you show your face

Hey, I was there too fella. And someone decided to skip the last ten minutes of Tank Girl so they could watch some Big Les cartoons. I was quite disappointed because I wasn't sure if Malcolm McDowell was gonna win and take all of the waters. Very gripping story, what with the kangaroo people and the Jamie Hewlett artwork and weaponized-90s-ness feel to it.

And Walkabout... wow... so uncomfortable on so many levels. And yet, despite all of the animal killing and questionable shots of the underage white girl, somehow more socially redeeming than the Langoliers.

Good viewing all. I'll be looking forward to The Pest if we watch it. I'm going to be hunting down a few other gems myself over the next week in case we need the filler.

Maybe it's too late to suggest this, but does anyone feel like streaming some war movies for Memorial Day?
Sure, we can do a memorial day movie night! If you can, can you upload some war movies on a google drive and send me the link? Wi-Fi up at the school is having problems authenticating my computer.

I'd take you up on that except it can't be next week because of family shit. Week after, the 10th, go for it.

I also want to put an early suggestion in for the Sinful Dwarf from 1973 to follow. It looks awesomely dire and melodramatic.

Awesome- hope you all have a decent Memorial Day Movie Night. I might be able to attend for a bit, but I won't be able to stay all night because I get to cover the graveyard shift at work this week. Still, if you're needing me to hunt down any movies, I'll see what I can accommodate. I don't have any "war" movies just yet... but I do have a few cringe-worthy additions for Friday.

We doing Memorial night then or nah?

Anyway guys, happy Memorial Day!

Alrighty folks- submitted for your approval...

First up... one of my personal favorite movies... 1988's version of The Blob. Now, unless you've seen this movie, you're probably thinking the fact that it is a Blob movie, it can't be all that good. Ahhh but my dear friends, this movie is striaght up unrelenting in how many ways it- the Blob from outer space- goes around and kills its victims. For a movie in 1988, the SFX are fantastic, but at the same time the movie retains a great sci-fi campiness.

I'm presently rendering it into my Google Drive, but it should be ready my tomorrow night. Until then, a small preview...

Now, for some really bad shit... I had to a little bit of digging but I was able to obtain a copy of the 1997 Justice League of America pilot.

1997-justice-league.jpg

This pilot came out in 1997, same year other DC movies such as Batman & Robin, and Steel were brought out for public consumption. Needless to say, it was a dark year for comic fans, so much so that many who saw this TV travesty wish it never existed.

Created by people who didn't understand either the comic book fans and the subject material, the JLA pilot is set up like a TV sitcom like Friends or Dawson's Creek, but with superpowers. And what characters did they pick? Why JLA standards like Flash and (Guy Gardner) Green Lantern.... and then Atom... some people know Atom... and uhm... Fire and Ice... Martian Manhunter is in this too, although he kind of is the Zordon of the show- telling the heroes what is going on and not really doing jack shit to help.

The acting is bad, the CGI is terribad, the setup is atrocious, the costumes are hideous, and there is nothing redeeming about this movie except the small relief to know that it is no longer 1997.

I have this ready to roll from my Google Drive.

And finally, I came across this at work... and I just want to share with you all a small bit of the hell I live in out here in the ass end of nowhere. Behold - the KUK Festival.... no, seriously. They have no fucking idea.

No, we HAVE watched "Fateful Findings", and "I Am Here...Now." Trust me, I have the scars to prove it. And in any case, all three, plus I would assume the fourth movie "Pass Thru" all share nearly the exact same plot. Breen is always the Gary Stu protagonist who kind of just walks around and observes things and somehow his presence causes everything to fall into place within the last 15 minutes, resulting in the antagonists dying horribly, both in context and by the calibur of the production values of the film.

Anyway, thanks to Kiwi Movie Night, I have begun once again to collect the best of the worst from my own private collection. This week I will be obtaining a copy of Samurai Cop and the 1983 Hercules staring Lou Ferrigno fighting space robots. I will be happy to share it with you plucky ducks.

Alrighty folks- I have no clue what @bearycool and @Splendid Meat Sticks have planned for the upcoming night, if anything, but to avoid having another Breen night and me having to kill another vagrant to quiet the voices inside my head, I am presently uploading the following to my Drive and will be adding them to the playlist. Doesn't mean we'll be watching them necessarily, but they'll be options.

  • Samurai Cop (considered by some to be one of the best worst movies ever made)
  • Battle Royale (with English subtitles)
  • Tekken: Blood Vengeance (English dub - For the weeaboo fans/ animation fans/ batshit insanity fans)

And realizing my selection is very much leaning towards weeb territory, I will also be including-

  • Santa and the Ice Cream Bunny (complete with Rifftrax dubbing)

Also for the nightowls in our group, I have saved a backup copy of Hawkeye, just in case the YT version disappears for God-only-knows reasons. I'm seriously considering trying to contact George Chung aka Hawkeye for an actual physical copy of the movie. I found his LinkedIn page, apparently the dude is a big media guy- hopefully he won't mind sending me a VHS of his grand masterpiece.

That's all I got for now. More autism later.

That sounds good. I'm adding Shrek 2 and Shark Boy and Lava Girl.
