Whenever you meet someone, they'll formulate an image of you in their mind and act accordingly. If they like you, they'll be happy when you come around, speak nicely about you, and do good things for you. If they dislike you, they'll silently bemoan your presence, talk shit about you, and act in ways towards you that they wouldn't to other people. Very profound I know
. However, these opinions are formed off things that aren't really fair. Things like: this person has an annoying voice, I disagree with this person, this person is ugly, this dude's weird, this guy's doing better than me in life, etc. People may retroactively give some justification for this hate, but it usually stems from something quite childish.
Ok, I think this person is a bit of a loser. He has an anime phone case and spends his free time watching Shonen anime made for 12 year olds. He has poor social skills. He's also kind of fat. So what? Should I talk behind his back? Should I go out of my way to make his life worse? Inevitably, someone is going to have a gripe with me. Should they talk shit about me? Should they go out of their way to make my life worse? I don't try to hurt anyone. I just keep to myself, that's not fair.
I understand that everyone has these emotions, to hate is to be human. But it takes maturity to show kindness and respect to the people you dislike, and not through gritted teeth. Plus, being filled with hate and dislike is bad for your mental health. Obviously, it's justifiable to hate people that do horrible things, but most hate isn't towards those people.
