https://youtube.com/watch?v=i7Ni8LvUiMohttps://youtube.com/watch?v=UxVLwm0wNC0I know I shouldn't be surprised. Mortal Kombat is a Western fighting game series, after all. The first fighting game series proud of de-sexualizing females and fully embraced tranny propaganda. Seeing the Mortal Kombat fandom dominated by wannabe breadtubers like TheReXerShow, who cry about Gamergate and people not eating up woke slop, is kind of depressing. Especially if you grew up with Mortal Kombat in the 90s and 2000s. The series was the poster child for being edgy and counterculture. Yes they downplay Joe Liberman being a democrat.
Current MK is one of the examples when you see people call something "Safe Edgy". It's got all the gratuitous violence that the series is known for and it pretends it is so proud of but in terms of it actually being more edgy than just appearing childishly violent it is very de-fanged as a series. Even the story took up the same problems of what you see today and it confuses me because it just doesn't work. Characters that felt more honorable and respectful as they were seasoned fighters and monks became quippy tryhards which isn't an issue with me until it's most of the cast that is cracking the same kinds of jokes making the overall tone less serious (which i guess is the point.)

Very tangentially related news regarding Mortal Kombat proper, but it looks like Paramount won in its quest to outbid Netflix for Warner Bros. I have no idea how Paramount might handle all of the video game IPs under WB.
Jade being bald, Raiden being a manlet, and all sorts of mixing bag that the bullshit directors keep. You remember the time the actor for Jax for the first movie complaining about Raiden being cast by Christopher Lambert? It's literally the same shit as the userbase complaining about Raiden being a wyatt man; when they didn't complain about Fujin's face model (whom, also a white man).
The IP has burned a lot of good will over the past few years with blunders and fuck ups. The movie would have to be considerably better than the 1995 movie to really make up for any failings the franchise has had recently. Just being better than the last one isn't going to be good enough. I haven't seen it this far down since around MKvDC.
just saw the 95 movie again, top top film. the new one fucking sucked and with the second one i read they tried to course correct but the film bombed anyways oh well. this ip needs to fucking die already

I got some bad news.
At this point, have the next movie take the storyline from the third game where Shao Kahn has Sindel resurrected on Earth and uses the loophole to merge the two realms that kills a majority of the Earth's populace in the first act. Or jump ahead to the storyline from Deception and introduce Onaga as the next big bad.
I hope the new MK game is better than 1, I liked the roster and the kameo system was unique but the single player content was light and the story sucked. I did like the DLC guest, Homelander and Ghostface were a lot of fun to play as. I have been playing the legacy collection a lot. Wish it had the Sega CD version of MK1
