With the advent of the worldwide web, lying has become much easier. Outrageous claims are dead simple to fabricate over text and various photo manipulation tools, sock accounts are available to every butthurt teenager, and it seems that an increasing chunk of Internet people are advertising agencies and bots in disguise. Tech companies and governments use this as a pretext for ridiculous regulations - the fact that a good chunk of the Internet is bullshit to various extents is a commonly agreed upon fact.

Is this healthy for Zoomers/Alphas to be exposed to such amounts of untruth from the moment they first log on? Is this a good thing to be incentivised to make things up for retweets/updoots/stickers?

What is it you really want to get at here? I feel the answers to your questions are firmly in the affirmative no matter who you ask.

More and more I wonder if it really matters if anything is real on the internet. Is there truly a difference between me writing notes in my phone and posting these comments on a forum? I'm basically talking to a magic rectangle, not real people. I have no way of confirming there's anyone on the other side other than the replies I get, and really what's the difference between reading a reply to a question I ask and reading a search result on Google for the same question? What is the difference between reading an article made two months ago by a nobody journalist, and reading replies to this post made moments ago by some nobody sped?

In my opinion it never mattered if any of it is truly real. Talking to strangers online is such an impersonal activity that it doesn't matter if it's real. You'll never have a real connection anyway.

If you found out all of the farms was an experiment, and that every user here save for a dozen were just bots espousing opinions, what would that change for you? Probably nothing. You still had the conversations you had, still argued, shitposted, formed opinions, cried, and logged off. It's all the same, real or not.

I would be impressed that chatbots got this good

Sure you can fake normalfags, their speaking patterns are repetitive because they are too fucking scared of saying a bad thing that will get them cancelled, and 4chon tards just spam reaction images

The shit here however goes sideways all the time, would be hard for a GPT install to get it right without outing itself as a bot
