A hoax like this could be the kind of thing that really gets one's name in the history books of pop culture and horror cinema in the 2020's
The "snuff is fake" mantra is too strong and have been around for too long to get people to believe something is a "real" snuff movie. So I had an idea on how to tweak the core concept, make it similar enough and possibly plausible. There's been stories and articles about corpse farms and companies that buy/sell human bodies to corpse farms and other places, medical schools and such. There was also that absolutely chilling story not long ago of such a business where a head had been crudely sewn onto the neck of a different body, for fun it seems, and maybe that same person was the one that cut dicks off of corpses and kept them in a box. It was like an actual slasher movie.
So my movie idea isn't a snuff movie, but a movie that uses real dead human bodies bought from shady places like the one above. Some ideas on how to sell it to the audience could be a coroner breaking character and being very uncomfortable cutting open a very realistic body on a very cheap set. Some characters breaking a bit are cut/shot around (the viewer never sees anyone looking at or addressing the camera) and at times it really only comes across as slightly sloppy editing. Unless you know the myth around the movie.
Another scenario to illustrate this idea would be one character being forced to cut the leg off of his GF because of a zombie bite or something, the scene is familiar enough it should be tense and dramatic. But when it cuts to the actor starting to saw/hack off the leg he seems a bit gleeful and into it, a bit forceful even though everything about that goes against the tone of the scene. The viewer can tell that the leg is obviously not the leg of the woman with the zombie bite, as expected for a prop, but it looks like another unusually good prop for such a cheap and slapdash movie. Even the piece of the leg where the zombie tore a chunk of flesh out looks better on a close up. Kinda weird...
