My gripe is with the single block machines and the fact that every* machine is just a 3D rectangle. I've played HBM's NTM and it has amazing models, so I'm kind of spoiled. (Though the dev is kind of a fag.)

They obviously didn't keep in mind how autistic their player base is.
What bothers me more about the update is 1. the sulphur slime is useless in singleplayer, 2. the hotsprings that locate a sulphur cave could be orders of magnitude more impressive and realistic using pre-existing blocks (coloured terracotta), and 3. sulphur will unquestionably have one (or two if we're very lucky) niche uses which almost certainly won't include making gunpowder

In complete contrast to this, Realistic Terrain Generaition for 7.10 is fantastic for its namesake. Maintained by the GTNH team, of course.

Found this "horror" mod that looks actually really cool, it's called "The World Below (or Alpha Below)" The idea is that Minecraft's Alpha never left, just "buried" below the Bedrock layer and forgotten (works great with Immersive Portals), along with the builds of those who once played it. The mod is purely atmospheric, it's dark and foggy, there's no mobs I believe, everything uses old Alpha textures (though I believe they're renamed to "mysterious [item]"), there's even the Farlands.

It’s dark, silent, empty, and frozen in time — not because it’s trying to be cheap horror, but because it feels like a place everyone left behind long ago.

This mod is focused on atmosphere and exploration. No jumpscares, no loud monster gimmicks, no “dweller” nonsense. Just old terrain, heavy fog, strange landmarks, and signs that other players may have once been there.

That being said, there are "horror" elements that you would expect from horrorslop mods you'll find normally, but they're optional and need to be manually toggled. They're also supposedly subtle rather than jumpscares and screamers, you can even interact with one of them in a positive way:

Lost Voyager shrines can accept offerings (dropped items near the shrine) and may respond later with tiered loot and an eerie sign message left behind.

The only other entity is also a subtle one from what I'm reading:

2Char is a separate optional system tied more to Far Lands-style unease — a distant proto-player anomaly that appears wrong, moves wrong, and can leave behind environmental traces after it fades. It is also disabled by default.

Feels like one of those Alpha ARGs, looks pretty cool.

It regularly gets 6 on at once at peak hours. Weekends are usually busiest, of course. I’d say there’s usually always someone on.
