Like Rando said, Minecraft runs on an internal server in single player, SP worlds are just single player private servers (oversimplfying) that also offloads to your client, that's why some people with weaker hardware may run an external server to play on so their PC isn't running both clientside and serverside processes. Same with Vintage Story sadly.
Also, too many mods (especially poorly coded one or ones that unavoidably use heavy processing like Alex Mobs/Caves) will easily cause the tick rate to shit itself and thus give you latency lag. Check the log folder (or console if your launcher has one) and you'll inevidibly see "Server overloaded" and whatnot.
Happens all the time with poorly configured modpacks. If no mods, then your CPU and Ram is either fucked, not set correctly, or not enough. There are performance mods that help with this of course but at that point it's a bandaid on a gash, plus too many/the wrong ones will have demishishing returns.

Because someone persuaded Notch it would be efficient and convenient to kill the optimized (in comparison) singleplayer codebase for the development on the turbo-spaghetti multiplayer codebase.
Or shoved it in while he wasn't looking and did enough damage that he decided it wasn't worth the time to reverse it.

nah it was all on notch to be honest, he didn't want to bother himself updating two codebases.
then yeah, he just decided to gun it after he realized how fucked up that decision was.
 
Attempt to make the Shadowfang Tower from WOTLK using an "older" build style in 1.21.1. I forgot that they added the vertical bookshelves in a later version and I was somewhat disappointed because I wanted to use those instead of the fence gates, but it's chill. I'm using Sphax PureBDcraft's grungy texture pack and I enjoy it.

Would recommend stone walls rather than full blocks for the stilts on the side, you can also try using a bunch of banners since that's a big ass flag. Otherwise, good stuff.
 
Currently watching Stampy’s Lovely World for the first time. It’s definitely got appeal to someone like me, it’s a very comfortable and soothing series to watch. I do really enjoy that it’s just his voice and not some other annoying faggot added to it. — I remember that some faggot said that no one wants to watch someone being bad at Minecraft anymore. Well, here I am, watching someone being bad at Minecraft, and thoroughly enjoying it.

Problem with minecarts is and always has been chunkloading, to do anything real fun with them (Railcraft) you need to keep the chunks loaded or all sorts of weird shit happens.

So we won't get "factorio trains" in minecraft, unfortunately.
