So, Mojang released this video about the deep dark:

DC;DW: They were going over their scrapped designs and concepts for the Sculk and the Warden.

These are some pretty standard ideas for Minecraft (although, the bone one sounds and looks kinda cool).

This is the best one IMO. I especially love how they based it on Trypophobia. They were even going to call it the "Hallow".

Wow. Some of these would have really pushed the age rating.
I see inspiration from games like Yume Nikki, .flow and the classic "john" horror mod from minecraft's past.

It's also kind of weird that the one designed to induce Trypophobia was based on a disease theme. As far as I know there's no actual disease with symptoms like this but I've always associated that effect with disease (Due to it's resemblance to mould and insect eggs). Maybe there was some horrible disease in mankind's history that's had it's fear passed down through genetics?

That’s too bad, some of those scrapped designs look a lot better than the final one.

It definitely takes some getting used to for me personally.

Also, it wasn't just Raine that composed the tracks. The composer for FF7R (name escapes me right now) also made two new tracks for the game.

They weren't trying to make seem like a choice to begin with. Ever since it was announced they made it clear that it was "Switch to a MS account or bye-bye Minecraft". Again, it sucks but, it is what it is.

At least they aren't trying to force us into using the new launcher (although I may have jinxed it somehow).

This is fucking cool but I wish there was more bizarre treasure. Oh well, I guess this is the compromise you have to make when you push against the age rating.

Lol. I too make my own tranny removal pack. The only problem is finding biome appropriate tracks to replace them.
Replacing that horrible nether music disk was the first line of business and it just grew from there.
 
I play it now and then. I mostly just build up a few bases, strip-mine a mountain range for the resources to build sky-bridges to connect them, and do a bit of spelunking, before getting bored and quitting.
 
I miss playing this game honestly, but I tried to play on my Surface and it just felt... different? I feel like there was miniscule lag that was fucking with my head. Or I've gotten so used to playing Animal Crossing that I can't play a first person game anymore (which would suck).
