WARNING FOR IMAGE DUMP AND TISM

I so hope Nintendo doesn't ever listen to fans like this.

Also, the one who agrees with this person is someone who thinks that the Zero Suit ruined the series, and that she should only ever be in her armor, even in endings (seriously, just check out his many tweets).. Said video is Prime 4 Samus nodding.

Also, double standards about her depiction in Ultimate compared to 4.

I know, I'm being extremely autistic about this. But it just frustrates me that the fanbase will not accept Samus unless she is an unfeminine block of muscle.

It's very simple: Samus Aran is a white woman (genetic chimera by now) and appeals to straight men, so forces are trying to pressure Nintendo to ensure we can't have her anymore. Sexualizing the Gerudo is fine, however, since they're a bunch of extremely tan misandrists with big noses.

Niggas are seriously going to look at the dozens of useless Fire Emblem clones and say ZSS is the worst choice they ever made? They look at a character they gave a basically brand new, unique moveset to and think "yep this is worse than Marth #2 with longer power attack charge time."

Just let smash die, it only brings out the worst people.

Is this person a tranny? I could see trannies hating ZSS because they can't larp that she actchually has a dick inside her armor anymore. People like them are the reason they DON'T try to release new characters with new movesets and they just release more clones. What does Dark Samus bring to the table that Samus doesn't already? Slower movement? Longer charge times? Worse screw attack? Plasma Beam is now Phazon Beam? And somehow Zero Suit Samus is worse than all that lol

I do find it weird how, for all the talk about how a fantastical series doesn't need to be concerned with realism, when it comes to Metroid, suddenly realism must be prioritized. And anything remotely anime is garbage.

Because it's not like Metroid is a Japanese series and has had anime influences like Space Adventure Cobra from the beginning amirite?

It's not like there aren't already weird images of generic sci-fi soldiers standing next to Samus in her 1980s anime-design power suit with bright colors, there's no way realism fits there lol

There's a pretty noticable art style change between the first 3 games and the GBA games. There was definitely a lot less noticable anime influence and a lot more 80's western sci-fi and pulp comic type influence in the earlier games. The games were mostly inspired by Alien and Samus was heavily inspired by Ripley so I've always thought the anime style didn't fit the series as well as the more western influenced art style. Especially because the games have always been more popular in the west than Japan. I've always thought the best Samus was the one at the end of the original Metroid 2 because that's probably the closest to what Ripley was actually dressed like and looked like in the movie.

This thread is what actually got me interested in playing Metroid. I've only finished Metroid Prime Remastered and I liked it a lot to make me consider playing almost all the Metroid games. So far I'm trying to finish Metroid Prime 2 and Metroid Dread that I'm playing on my Steam Deck. I do want to play Super Metroid and Metroid Fusion eventually since I've heard those are the best out of all of them. I'm just really busy on my private life.

So far I like it. However I am sad that the IP is owned by Nintendo and I'm not a big fan of Nintendo.

Super Metroid is my favorite, but it requires a lot more mechanical input than Metroid Fusion or Zero Mission so it has a bit of a learning curve. The easiest example is how jumping onto ledges works. In Super Metroid, you have to jump on top of the ledge and if you miss, you just fall back down. In Fusion and Zero Mission, Samus will grab the ledge and you can climb up.

Dread is a lot more like Fusion than it is Super, since it has ledge grab and is a lot more linear, while Super Metroid will let you do whatever you want, whenever you want. I got an early Power Bomb upgrade in Dread, but it doesn't let you use it early. In Super, if you find early Power Bombs, congrats! Now you have Power Bombs early and can make shortcuts or get into places you shouldn't yet. It's a lot more free and almost wants you to find your own route for doing things.

Hope you enjoy the games :)

I will say though being a Metroid Fan must suck and be painful.

Not only is the Community (as well as the Nintendo Community) VANTABLACK BRIMSTONE FROM NIGGERHELL.

But there hasn't been that much new Metroid games, only Metroid Dread and Metroid Prime 4 as far as I know.

I can't imagine waiting so long for Metroid Prime 4 to come out only to have people call a game you've waited for so long to be a "Reddit story".

Then there is the whole controversy that Nintendo should say that Samus is a troon. Which I think is weird. Here on my thoughts on that if you're curious.

The whole debates and people wanting Samus to be troon is weird based off from an article where one of people who originally worked on Samus design said she is not a women but a "newhalf", which sparked debate and some people claiming he was joking. I'm on the belief that he is joking mainly because when Metroid was being developed on the NES. Samus was orignally going to male protagonist until midway through development where an unknown Nintendo employee suggested to reveal in the end that Samus is a female to shock the players. Combine the fact that Metroid was confirmed to inspired by Ridley Scott's Alien, a film where the protaginist is a female, and I'm more to believe that Samus is in fact a real women.

Even with the whole troon shit debate. I think its safe to say its important that Samus is considered a female instead of a troon. Mainly because some people consider her to be the greatest female protaginist in video game history. So I think fighting that Nintendo should make Samus a troon is not only weird and brimstone. But also a sign that these freaks really hate women and are sexist. Xhey want to take characters who are considered a real women and fuck it into the dirt.

There is probably more things that Metroid Fans are / were suffering that I don't know of.

Somewhat, but it probably hurts way more to be a Star Fox fan, unless you just really love that one game they keep remaking. I stay realistic about it though, Metroid games are scifi (which not everyone is into) and generally harder than something like Zelda, Kirby, or Mario. It has a more limited appeal so I can't blame Nintendo for making games more people will buy and saving the special series for limited releases. Samus/Metroid is mysterious so having more games could reduce that mystery enough that the games don't really mean much anymore. Nintendo also likes to explain the mystery too much, like that book that links all the different Zelda games into one timeline. We didn't need any of that lol

It was bound to happen at some point, I'm old enough to realize there may come a day when I don't play a new Metroid game because I'm either too old to keep up with what the game demands, or because they just aren't making games for people like me anymore. Prime 4 has a lot of that "not made for me" vibe, but I think that's more a failure of the game and dev cycle than them intentionally making it in a different style. Hard to say with how much was kept from the original open world questing concept they had.

My understanding was it was a localization error, the Japanese manual for Metroid used gender neutral pronouns to refer to Samus ("They turned into a ball to go through small passages!", while the US and EU got a booklet that was translated with masculine pronouns for Samus ("He charges his beam and fires!") so it was arguably MORE surprising when players actually learned she was a Bird.

Then there is the whole controversy that Nintendo should say that Samus is a troon.
I think it's important to remember that the people who say this stuff are a minority of terminally online weirdos. The vast majority of Metroid fans probably never even heard of this "controversy". And the idea that Nintendo would ever consider even for a second making Samus canonically trans is just ridiculous.

It all because a really badly worded translation since Hirofumi Matsuoka used the word "newhalf" (a slag for tranny at the time) to describe Samus......which also could be referring to Samus being half fucking bird/Chozo.

Nintendo would do small bird jokes with Samus way before they ever do any tranny stuff.

I am not going to let one of the most badass female video game characters ever be ruined because of some mentally ill troon faggots that larp on Reddit, Bluesky, and DeviantArt 24/7.
