I doubt it, it's not one of the "cool" disorders. It's the same reason why no one has self diagnosed with Chronic IBS or some shit like that, pun intended.

I hope with all my heart that IQ lowering mental illnesses become the next cool thing on Tumblr. Can you imagine them trying to complain about discrimination against retards while having to pretend to be retarded while posting?

are you sure about that? i feel like i've seen a lot of abouts on tumblr that mention IBS, usually as a means of saying they aren't ~totally able-bodied~. didn't springtrapp even claim to have IBS at one point? or am i misremembering things?

The attitude on Tumblr is that if you're not part of a marginalised group then you shouldn't have an opinion on matters specific to them. This is a mutation of the "Nothing about us without us" line, which isn't bad (the line, not the mutation) in itself - after all, in the 1840s it was seen as perfectly acceptable for men to speak for women on women's rights; a bunch of them decided that women shouldn't have the right to own property.
However, with the Tumblr mutation of this no abled person is allowed to have an opinion on disabilities, but these tumblrinas have an opinion and obviously just everybody needs to hear it because their opinion is clearly the only right one - dilemma! But wait, there is a solution - all they need to do is self-diagnose with some trendy disorder that would make them disabled enough to be allowed an opinion but not so disabled that tumblr will ignore their opinion a hey presto, instant tumblr activist.

To be honest, self diagnosing can be useful in the instances when doctors don't know what they're talking about.
I have autism, ADD, BPD, DID and OCD. I also have fibromyalgia and a severe anxiety disorder as well as suffering from agoraphobia due to childhood abuse but a few months ago I went and saw a doctor and the only diagnosis I got was "moderate mental retardation."
The fact is doctors often times don't know what they're talking about so self diagnosing becomes necessary. Tumblr helps a lot with that.

Pretty sure that's the joke.
I wonder how much it would cost to get all of the self dx-ers properly diagnosed, and how some would react upon finding out they were wrong (I'm sure a few of them guessed right out of sheer luck/whatever, but a lot of them definitely are wrong and probably don't fit the clinical definitions)

My criteria is if they have a laundry list of self diagnosed disorders then they're bullshitting but one or two doesn't look so fucked up unless they contradict like they say bipolar with depression or whatever.

Outside of following a few creators I like, I don't really do much on tumblr. I've never really seen any of the crazies we talk about in this thread or others firsthand. So I decided to put in "self diagnosis" and see what I could find.
Translation: A few hours on Wikipedia and my friends conditioned to walk on eggshells around me validate my diagnosis. I cannot go to a doctor because reasons.
Translation: If you don't want to listen to everything I say then please stop listening to me.
Translation: kids who say they have PTSD or BPD deserve to be believed because the evil transphobic ableist cisheternormative patriarchical mental health conspiracy is wrong and immoral.
Translation: my feelings are more important than medical fact.
And I think this one speaks for itself:

Nope, if cost was taken out of the equation, they'd just fall back on any of their other excuses of all mental health care professionals being "dirty racist sexist transphobic ableist neurotypical cishet men."
It's not that they can't get a diagnosis because of any legit reason. They just can't get a diagnosis because they aren't actually sick and any psych would laugh them out of the room.
