No, she never had it to begin with. Marl was the writer for the bulk of everything up until Try, Try Again. I would also imagine the uptick in drug use to be a factor, as well.

mel is the least creative person in every aspect. she can draw, yes.. and type random "meaningful" words on a screen everyday. she can think about things for sure, but leaves all the logical thinking outside her brain.
pretty skilled; just not smart enough to make her ideas coherent.
it's how it feels like to me each time when she writes. she thinks: complexity = good story. when it's not sometimes, it all seems like a hump o' bloated mess if she can't simplify her work.
