What are peoples opinions on Swedish Mausers? I saw a couple recently at the gun store I go to but don't know enough about them, they seemed like they were in good condition.
Really well made, the action is the version they created before the 98 but that's not a takeaway and 6.5 swedish is easier to find than 8mm at places like cabelas and bass because of it's consistent use in hunting rifles.

the 6.5x55 is a good round. same performance as 6.5 creedmoor with modern load data. the Target rifle version is very accurate:
I have a Husqvarna Mauser. the action is a military action left over from WW1. it's in 9.3x57mm. The swedes called them potato guns because the bullet is so big and heavy. it's got a smooth action. since it's a military action I can use stripper clips which is cool. weight is comparable to a Winchester feather weight. recoil is rough. it's my brush gun.

Genuinely who the fuck is buying this shit? Every boomer into guns had the opportunity to pick up a Norinco SKS when they were practically free. It’s a rifle that was obsolete the day it was invented and it’s not rare.
In many cases theyre not, but in my experience the guys who do are: A) boomers who think of it as an investment B) young trend chasers(often military) with more disposable money than sense(like buying a mustang but instead of a mustang its a bunch of C&R rifles with FW videos). Even then most people are smart enough to check prices and not get completely hosed.
I have a feeling a lot of these exorbitant gun broker listings are not priced to sell. The owners want to keep them and set prices higher because of it. My lgs has a bunch of overpriced classic revolvers on consignment owned by boomers hiding them from their wives.

is it actually because of their wives? if it is how do so many of them buy the "i'm sorry it just won't sell" BS? literally everything even somewhat notable (including all guns) will sell at some price. personally i'd get sick of that shit after like a month.
I find myself experimenting with tire weights on a tx22 competition slide on account of that was the only way i could acquire a threaded barrel for my newish obsession. I've found a weight that works for my purposes but it's not one that anyone sells ready made (about 1-1 1/4 oz if anyone cares.) So my question is if anyone has first hand experience on how long those stick on tire weights will stay attached before they fly off in a random direction?

Glue them on with something other than whatever sticky tape is on the back.
Ghetto answer is strip the adhesive from the weights, and then tape over them with a bit of aluminum ducting tape. I'm not sure how much heat you'll be putting into the slide, so this may or may not be a long term solution depending on how large/many mags you're gonna be buzzing through it at a time, obviously. 3M makes a version good to 600F for sale on Amazon, your local hardware store may even have it on hand.
how do you fellas trapse around the prometheus and bob ass conversations you get forced in to with marginally acquainted hayseeds that start talking to you about their temu parts?

Eh - if they're into shooting and are safe about it, I'm more than happy to shoot the shit with damn near anyone about one of my hobbies. It's not like I'm running super Gucci shit myself.

6.5x55 is close to 6.5 creedmoor but the max pressure is about 10,000PSI lower so you tend to see velocities run about 200fps slower. Otherwise it’s very flat shooting with fairly mild recoil compared to 30-06 and 8mm Mauser.

I forget the name of the company/website, but there is an outfit that specializes in loading obsolete cartridges including black powder cartridges. They even load for the big Sharps rounds like .45-120 and things like that. I'm sure if you do a search for "loaded .45-70 black powder cartridges" or ".45-120 loaded cartridges" it'll come up. In fact, looking for loaded big Sharps cartridges was how I discovered them in the first place, because at one time I really, really wanted a Shiloh Sharps rifle to scratch that Quigley Down Under itch.

Buffalo Arms makes a bunch of black powder cartridges, but doesn't have any 45-70 that I'd feel comfortable putting through an antique gun. However, they DO have .310 Cadet, which I thought was unobtainable and entirely out of production. Time to break out the Martini and Out of stock

a lot of the unobtainable brass isn't actually unobtainable, you just have to pay out the nose for a bespoke brass maker to make a run for you. Quality cartridge and rocky mountain cartridge is another. RMC turns their brass from bar stock on a lathe.
the good thing is that these old cartridges usually run a pressures that allow the brass to just last forever with proper care. 50 cases for a .50-140 might cost you $500 but they'll last your whole life so its easier to justify the cost.
Amael Kotlarski who works for Jane's Intel is saying SIG M7 is kill.
"Confirmed with SIG and US Army programme officers. The M7 is dead. All production for NGSW-R will be switched over to the XM8 going forward. Delivered M7s (approx 50 k delivered) will eventually be replaced by the M8 down the line."
>Shorten barrel, reduce velocity and increase flash and concussion
>Shorten suppressor that almost certainly does not mitigate this increased amount of flash and concussion as well as the M7 and it's longer suppressor
>M157 might be dead due to all the decidedly not M157 optics seen in recent photos
>Still have reduce ammo carriage
>Round that Can't penetrate modern body armor even at short ranges penetrates even less now
What was the Point of NGSW again? Why not give KAC or LMT $1B for new CNC machines + facilities and an order for rifles?
The M14 is no longer the Service Rifle with the shortest career, hopefully the career of the M8 will be just as short or even shorter and the US can adopt the real NGSW, The Final evolution of the AR-15, basically a Colt Canada MRR with an Armad/GNB-200 barrel, PXT rifling, a KAC MOD-2 gas system, a forged, oversized, advanced bolt design made specifically for use with high pressure ammunition, Replacable steel cam track, topped off with an MFMD.
CAMTAC LLC Camset 3P-15, it's an FRT that acts kinda sorta like a DIAS as from what I understand from the marketing it's the FORWARD movement of the bolt that resets the trigger instead if the rearward.
AKV-521 without most of the top rail
Long Barrel AK-12CK
Corner Shot but with Revolver
Grease Gun with Congolese police
Prototype Walter toggle lock rifle
Italian Evolvys'
"R-9 Arms" SMG, manufactured by a single family of criminals in Croatia with fake markings
I forgot that the Evolys barrel is fixed, So it's literally just a contract tender for a modified LAMG. The only other contender that I can even think of is True Velocity with a scaled down RM-834 in 5.56.
