Four kooky-looking figurines are up for grabs.
Mcdonald's

You've pulled up to McDonald's as a full-on adult. You absolutely do not need a toy with your meal, right? Joking. Of course you do. The fast-food chain is now selling boxed meals geared toward grown-ups, and each one has a cool, odd-looking figurine inside.
The meal has an odd name -- the Cactus Plant Flea Market Box -- that's based on the fashion brand collaborating with McDonald's on the promotion.
According to McDonald's, the box is inspired by the memory of enjoying a Happy Meal as a kid. The outside of the box is multicolored and features the chain's familiar golden arches.
Greetings, Cactus Buddy.Meara Isenberg/CNET
The Cactus Plant Flea Market Box will be available in the drive-thru, in-restaurant, by delivery or on the McDonald's app, while supplies last. You can choose between a Big Mac or 10-piece Chicken McNuggets. It'll also come with fries and a drink.
The boxes will pack in one of four figurines. Three of the four appear to be artsy takes on classic McDonald's characters Grimace, Hamburglar and Birdie the Early Bird, while the fourth is a little yellow person called Cactus Buddy sporting a McDonald's shirt.
When I forked over 10 bucks for my own boxed meal on Monday, the toy was the best part. I liked that the prize came in packaging I couldn't see through, prolonging the surprise. I ripped it open to find the happy yellow guy, which seems like something my on-trend, college-aged brother would display in his dorm room. So I'm setting it aside for him.
Pricing is set by individual restaurants and may vary, according to McDonald's. When I attempted to order through the app from a McDonald's near me in Charlotte, North Carolina, it cost slightly more to get the burger box over the nugget box, but both could be purchased for a little less than $10. (For this price, the item came with a medium fries and drink)

Purchasing the same edible contents and drink through the app from the location near me without all the razzle-dazzle (aka, as a regular ol' meal) costs $7.49. So I basically paid $2.20 for the little toy and the nostalgia. You can decide if that's worth it to you.
In other McD news, Halloween buckets could be returning to the chain this fall. So leave some room in your stomach for a return trip.

I don't want to live on this planet anymore.

Okay first, Simpsons did it.

Secondly, if there are enough autistic man & woman children who will buy these stupid things, fine. I'd rather the money they somehow have get circulated back into the economy then I don't know saving their money for a house or using it on insurance or anything practical. McDonalds is trying weed out the weak & personally you could say, I'm loving it.

Saw this shit yesterday. My mom and I were having a laugh about it. She was particularly baffled why a toy was included but we came to the conclusion this is a precursor to Mcdonalds catering to the manchild, late-stage capitalism-assed, Funko Pop market that love to consoom.

So people want to pay more for less food and different packaging? Hey, we live in a society.

If you're not their target market, ignore them. :medallion:
No, I want to laugh at their target market

They should have done something more high-energy like partner with the Funko Pop people, or do a run of toys from some nostalgic series. Do people actually remember the McDonald's mascots?

Four eyes?! How spooky!

At this point why even sell products to the manchildren? Just open a Gofundme telling people to give money to McDonalds as a sign of their loyalty to the brand and their commitment to helping mentally stunted adults live in some weird mental nostalgia prison.

McDonalds has never really ceased using them. They had that creepy Happy Meal mascot for a hot minute, but it was thankfully brief and they returned to making merch for the old Ronald Mcdonald and friends characters. The characters are never used in wide marketing anymore, but they are still very much used in some nostalgia-pandering manner like subtle appearances on social media or merch such as this campaign. Now if Zoomers and Gen Alphas knew their names, likely not.

I'm guessing these campaigns are being approved by the Millenials working at McDonalds corporate noticing how Mcdonalds still has copyright on the characters and desire to relive their own childhood happy meals.

The Adult Happy Meals literally screams “Manchild and Womanchild Happy Meals” without saying those things to your face. It’s pretty transparent to see that infantilization still exists in the modern world through fast food corporations.

"Adult Coloring Books"
"Adult Happy Meal"
"Adult Bouncy Castle"

They're all bullshit, "adult" = "has naked women in it", or it's false advertising as far as I'm concerned
What's strange to me is that people are so insecure about "kids" items, is that they must be specifically catered to, as opposed to just using the "kids", and not being bothered by other people's opinions

I saw this and it is stupid, but I could see it being something people buy and go nuts for just to have it the same way they go nuts for Coca Cola branded products, or frankly the McDonalds szechuan sauce packets.
And this is maybe embarrassing but I dont think the figures look that awful--at least they arent funko pops or something.

I remember as a kid they had these 'food transformers' and my sister and I had the hamburger robot one, that shit's going on ebay for like some stupid amount of money now. I dont know what happened to ours, I think my sister let go of it when we moved and had to 'throw out or donate' a bunch of shit/furniture because of dad.

The figures don't even look cool wtf.
Fucking this. If you're going to blatantly cater to a bunch of manchildren, at least make the figures cool. Those aren't even "neat", they're just boring as all hell. "We slapped an extra set of eyes on the figures, that's unique, right?"

If they were really gunning for nostalgia they would cook the promotional stuff with animal tallow. But then it would make everything else on the menu look and taste like garbage in comparison.
These dumb figurines will be worth way more than they realistically should be in a few years. If being able to flip a few stupid figurines costs my dignity, so be it. I'm lovin it.
It's McDonalds. These figurines could make a bigger landfill than E.T. game cartridges. Please don't spend money on goyslop because of FOMO.

If the figures included were of Mayor McCheese, Officer Big Mac, the Fry Guys, or Captain Crook and came with the option of beer or wine as a beverage then I might be interested.
As it is? Nah.
