The Masters golf tournament is the first major golf tournament of the year and the most prestigious golf tournament. Who do you think is winning it all this year? Currently the reigning champion, Rory McIlroy, leads, and I'm convinced he's going to win it again. Feel free to discuss the Masters in this thread.

What was the idea to put the Masters on streaming platforms for their earlier in the day coverage? It seems like the people that watch Golf don't seem to be the type to also subscribe to streaming platforms. Or is Golf also trying to cash in on the streaming trend too, and put their tournaments on so many streaming platforms that you'll lose track of the number of them you need to have, aka the WWE route?

It's kind of both ideas, so they put the early morning holes on Amazon Prime, about 11am to 2pm, but the problem is most of the interesting stuff was put on ESPN Plus, which came on at 2pm on both streaming and cable, so Prime got the early rounds, but not many people cared. The rest of the tournament is going to be on Paramount Plus for the early round coverage, but then it's CBS and Paramount Plus for the rest of the tournament, so basically golf is trying to get new fans and people without cable or an antenna, like myself, to watch the Masters, which could in theory end up putting golf on a bunch of random streaming services like WWE, but either way, golf is trying to get more people watching because most people don't have Golf Channel anymore and only care about the major tournaments, so putting it on streaming is a way to expand golf's reach with younger audiences.

Also, isn't the future of Golf Channel iffy after it was moved out of the NBC umbrella and into Versant, along with other lesser channels like CNBC, USA, and MSNBCNOW? And which of those channels in Versant are supposed to be the money makers? MSNOW surely isn't.

Honestly, I haven't looked into it, but I wouldn't be surprised if the Golf Channel, along with all the others under that umbrella, folds within the next 5 years. The Golf Channel lost popularity, and I'm not even sure how much original content they have left because even my grandpa, who used to have the Golf Channel, doesn't have cable anymore. I really do hope they put some of those old Golf Channel documentaries on streaming because they were good, but the reality is nobody is going to be watching golf 24/7 on cable TV in 2026; most people just watch the majors when they are on local TV stations.
Lmao it’s gonna be another >rorychokeslol Sunday
It's certainly in the realm of possibility, but I think Rory is going to end up holding on to win the Masters. I wouldn't rule out a playoff between him and Cam Young or even a Scotty Scheffler surge on Sunday, but I think Rory McIlroy is going to get the job done. Feel free to laugh at me if I'm hilariously wrong tomorrow.
Fine by me. I’m rolling with Cam Young.
Honestly, Cam Young winning would be a cool story. I think lots of people are rooting for him; I wouldn't be disappointed if he won.

Good call. The finish was relatively anticlimactic, looked like Scottie was going to make a run but missing that birdie putt on 17 killed his momentum.

I'm glad I predicted it correctly, but I really wanted to see a playoff between Rory McIlroy and Scottie Scheffler. If Scottie had made that one close putt, it would have been tied. I bet Scottie is wishing he had that putt back. I was also pretty disappointed with Justin Rose's performance on the back nine, but I thought Masters Sunday was pretty good, but like you said, the ending was anticlimactic because everybody knew Rory was going to win after he hit that bunker shot.
