They'll recast him. They've done it several times for lesser characters and heck, even The Hulk has been recast in the MCU.

I believe I had actually heard rumblings he didn't want to be tied to capeshit as much as some of the other Marvel characters, and there were already plans to shift gears and focus the series on Okoye. Whether or not any of that was true, who the fuck knows, but I always assumed it was to a certain extent given how apparently she was running shit in-universe post Infinity War. If so, there ya go. If not, she might as well now.

It'd be a PR nightmare. Hulk was recast because the original actor had some disputes with the contract but it didn't matter because few people even remember the Hulk and that movie isn't really consequential to the MCU. This time, the actor died and the movie he starred in made a bill. It'd be too insulting even for Disney.

I don't know. They recasted The Hulk and War Machine because there were no commitments being made when the MCU was first started. The first MCU movies were to test the waters on whether Marvel movies were still viable in cinemas.

I hate that BLM will take advantage of this death
fuck you you clowns if you spent more time talking about how african americans eat themselves to death and are some of the most unhealthy people on the planet I'd have more respect for your damn movement

Keeping in shape for superhero movies is a notoriously heavy burden. Even if Black Panther had the full suit as a crutch, just keeping his looks, for years, while simultaneously fighting cancer is crazy.

Boseman kinda reminds of Raul Julia in a way. The reason he agreed to play Bison in the SF movie even while he was dying of cancer was because the movie was important to his children. I imagine he was commited to BP in a similar way, otherwise he'd taken less demanding roles for his last works.

Edit: My own theory is that the mouse was well aware of all of this, and planned in advance since Boseman had a role in the upcoming animated Disney+ series. They probably have enough footage and voice recording to give the character a proper goodbye.

He had to have had a lot of strength to be able to do all those movies while fighting as hard as he did. That's really admirable, honestly.

Holy shit, RIP Chadwick. And I thought he looked tired because he disliked only being known for WAKANDA FOREVER... Man was tough as fuck and a dedicated actor to keep going despite his cancer.

Hopefully Disney lets him rest in peace and treats the future of T'Challa in the MCU respectfully, if only to not piss off the Black Panther enthusiasts. Looking at you, posthumous usage of Peter Cushing and Carrie Fisher.

Nigga died of ass cancer after getting passed around hollyweird. Rough way to go. RIP Chris Hardwick

Can’t say anything except rest in piece. It’s horrible to see him go through all that but at least he lived his life how he wanted to, on his terms.

What horrible and tragic news. I remember that back in January or February, Chadwick Boseman was on an Instagram Live video, and the video made him trend on Twitter. In the video, it was clear that he had lost a scary amount of weight, and it had the internet buzzing for a day or two. Well, now we know why, and it's far more sad than any speculation could have anticipated.

Just putting this out there: Boseman went through multiple surgeries and treatment in-between training and filming these often physically demanding movies. He never said a single word about it. Can't imagine how difficult it must have been to go to work on some (if not, most) days.

Yada yada capeshit yada yada-- whatever. The dude was a fighter, and he fought through this horrific disease to put a beloved character on the big screen.

Fuck cancer, and fuck 2020. 43 is far too young.

EDIT: The Instagram video was from April, not January (this year has been a blur for all of us). He posted this on Jackie Robinson Day.

It'd be a fucking disaster to recast. Shuri would be a good pick
They were already gonna do that, Shuri was "Unexpectedly popular" and even got her own run as "The official Black Panther" in the 616verse.

And it was fucking shitty, she literally shot her brother into space for no reason as an excuse for her to get the suit.

Exactly. The hulk film is the lowest grossing film in the whole MCU and they basically dont even reference it and all but retconned it. The hulk film ended in a huge city destroying battle in manhattan, something that you would think would be a big deal and mentioned in spiderman, luke cage, or other avengers films.

I doubt that; the insurance costs are too much, image if he croaked early.
