I didn't realise how little advertising GOTG3 has gotten over here in the UK. Think I've seen the trailer...once, about a month ago? Previous Marvel films have been all over my local cinemas, but now it just feels like they're only advertising The Flash over and over and over and...

It's hilarious because Guardians is one of their most successful properties is the only Marvel movie at this point next to Spider verse I'd ever even consider seeing and that's a hard if at this point. But go ahead, keep failing. I'll keep sneeding.

they're going to be scrambling to save face so hard for the rest of their announced plans. the only reason anyone is going to show up for secret wars is to sse Tobey McGuire team up with Hugh Jackman in battleworlds. literally nobody gives a fuck about any of their current line up of characters, the ones they do have been disgraced and wasted anyways. after that they're going to have to bite the bullet and reboot, but even so the wave is over. they ran it into the ground. the general audience will have moved on. whether that's to Gunn's DC movies or those are dead in the water after the initial hype because people will be onto the next genre post superheroes remains to be seen. the genre won't die entirely, nothing does, but it's going to be a lot smaller and less of the money printing machine it was for a few years there

I've seen some of his earlier stuff, and I didn't hate all of it because at this point anti-white is just the Hollywood norm and I'm used to it now, and I wanted to know if he was that great of an actor (he's fine nothing too special) but the fact people dismissed known shitty behavior because of political moves his AGENTS and not even he was making is fucking nuts.

Ezra is a legitimately better actor although he should have gotten the boot a couple years ago when it became obvious he was too young to handle his rising fame and was most likely abused in Hollywood. That fuckin weirdo needed/needs psychological help he's legitimately a dangerous nutjob, it sounds like Majors is just an egocentric asshole with a case of casual normalized domestic abuse

• Secret Invasion - will have strong weeks 1 and 2 but fall off fast. It will bomb sadly as SLJ will get cucked again.
• The Marvels - 200 million global, it will be a spectacular bomb.
• Guardians 3 - 650 million, they will then speed it up by coming to Disney Plus to lock in Secret Invasion subs as they fear it will get Ms Marvel fanfare.

Secret Invasion is a streaming show, I believe. They can hide the losses behind D+. Guardians 3 comes out before the Marvels, and I think it's the best shot they have at making good money. I think it'll have a good opening week, but we'll have to see if it'll buck the trend and not fall off a cliff the second week. The Marvels is going to disappoint, but I also don't think it'll be as low as 200 million. I put it at the 300-400 million range, same as Quantumania.

GoTG Vol. 3 is the last Marvel property I'm genuinely interested in, I really hope James Gunn manages to reboot DC properly.

I've heard from "former MCU addicts" friends of friends of mine, that they left the theater while watching Quantumania because it was atrociously bad, and they never missed a MCU movie screening before that.

I feel like the only thing GOTG3 has going for it cinema profits wise is that there are no other 'big' movie releases at the same time until Fast X a few weeks after, so it may be able to earn some decent money from normie cinema goers until then (no matter how stupid the fast franchise has gotten, its still a big dumb action flick with well-liked/known actors, so audiences tend to flock to them, plus 9 broke records with how much it earned).

I genuinely can't be happier that Fast & Furious overtaking the capeshit goyslop, by being essentially a borderline capekino itself.

Seriously, it's one of the only film series left that still generates hype these days, despite the last movie being kinda mid. It defeating the half-dead MCU will be nice.

Agreed, the whole dynamic set up in 2 movies just got ruined. Also, someone in the make-up department hates her, & not in the "Jewish white women run Hollywood make-up industry" kinda way, she looks like she really hit the wall in it.

Sima Liu honestly comes across as an incel, he just has this strong beta presence that is unshakeable. I think it is an issue with Asian men because Asian women are so desirable and honestly every Asian woman I have met has been a chad. I have Asian family members and the same issue the females are strong but some of the males just appear weaker. Oddly enough hafa men don't have it near as bad.

When it comes to GOTG3 I think it is going to struggle because people have to be more selective of their theatre visits now. It's an expensive affair and if you are a couple or family you are looking at near double digits when you factor in travel and food etc. For me, it is an easy £30. So I think people will select Fast X over Gotg3 because it's 2 weeks later and in some of Europe that weekend is a 4 day weekend. In the UK especially the cinemas are packed.

Clearly, Disney was not confident with it going against Fast X in the long weekend as that is a much better pick. I think too GoTG is just a tired franchise and needed to release sooner but because of Gunn's treatment, it drew out the process. GotG came out 9 years ago and the zeitgeist has changed massively since then, it feels like it's the case of outliving your welcome. Even the actors just want to move the fuck on and go to better projects because they cannot do new projects easily due to Disney screaming for reshoots for VFX even though it looks like shit.

One thing I have noticed in comparison to 2 and 3 is the noticeable decline in VFX and honestly, GotG3 looks really ugly. It honestly feels like a completely different film and its sad.

It's such a tonal shift and just flat-out jarring, there are elements too that personally I don't think people care about aka Rocket's origin.

edit - Lily yes got shafted royally she was easily one of the most likable Marvel female actresses.
