Marvel Cinematic Universe

I did not see the DA of NYC pressing charges, maybe they'll be dropped. If its dropped, its obviously fixing, if not, its time for a new Kang. MCU rolled on for billions and billions of dollars recasting Incredible Hulk, this shouldn't be too much of an issue.

The fact that Majors hasn’t been axed yet Carano, Roiland, Avellone, etc. were axed in a heartbeat shows that Hollywood is clearly selective with who they want cancelled.

They were also quick to fire Gunn, only to bring him back for GOTG 3. I'm guessing Disney doesn't want another Twitter outrage.

Seriously what's with the new superhero genre actors exposing themselves as assholes or egotistical assholes so quickly (it use to take big name actors years for people to find out what assholes they are) is it just getting famous too quickly with an IP gets to you?
Actors in general seem to have 0 staying power nowadays. Probably by design as well, but most of the big names that got asses into theaters are circling their 60s now. Evans, Hemsworth, Johansen and Pratt have a bit of star power behind them, but certainly not to the level of the older guard. Add to that how they MUST hunt diversity and suddenly seems like they really are scraping the barrel and end up with more psychos than usual, or at least ones that can't act human for a decent amount of time.

True. Also the ones you named above were able to have audience hype. I mean outside of the movie critics and Reddit are guys like Majors and Simu really that big to regular audiences? Hemsworth was pretty unknown when he first played Thor yet grew to be beloved the general audiences.

Majors was in a bunch of those "white people/racism were the real monsters all along" movies and TV shows like Lovecraft Country.

I assume this is why he's well known and beloved by critics while virtually unknown to the American public.

I'm aware what he was was in those "Racism were the real monster all along" bullshit medium.

That was my point Only critics and Reddit really knows who he is because of that stuff. Unlike Hemsworth who actually had gain general audiences appeal outside the internet.

Those same critics and redditers have been wondering if Marvel does possible drop him that people will notice a recast. When in reality I don't think general audiences will care since I don't here people talking about him outside those communities.

Like for instance my dad doesn't go online much and Hemsworth is one of his favorite actors of recent years. I don't think Majors is even at that level. At most people will go "the bad guy from the third Ant man movie?"

Internet killed the star culture for the most part. It's not just one thing either, more cumulative effect of many online related things.

The stars music, movies, tv and what have you used to be mysterious and ever so fancy. They were larger than life, shown in perfect light. Before you might get a glimpse of their real lifes from a gossip columnists or paparazzi but with social media, fuck fo you get to see them at their worst and boring. The curtains have been opened and there is nothing to see. Even if a star has a good social media presence that isn't any different from a basic bitch influencer who shows of make ups or video games. They aren't special and so nobody really cares.

There isn't one mainstream entertainment anymore. There are shows, music, games and so on that are more popular and have more general appeal but there isn't any reason to you to consume that if you even slightly to the side. Streaming means you can watch what you like and only that. Before there were only so many channels or movies to choose from and the popular ones were consumed by pretty much everyone for some degree just because it was practical way to entertain yourself. That ment most people got familiar and liked those few big names that everyone saw. Also streaming encourages binge watching witch just doesn't form same relationship to actors as a habit of watching a show at same time each week or day.

That leads to the most important issue, we have access to so much entertainment that the stars have compete with. I don't mean steaming giving access to countless movies and shows. I mean we have so many options beyond that because of internet. Video games, social media, articles, DIY instructions, influcers, porn, news in real time, digital art, pod casts, following price of electricity, language learning tools and so on. All that in mini computer in you pocket you can call with.

I disagree, most media is consumed by a wide margin of the community, if anything as much as the selection is more vast it's also incredibly shallow with far less films, games and shows produced.

On the question of actors. A memorable actor needs: Uniqueness, good films, and charisma. Which are all in short supply this days, The Rock, for example, is another derivative of Schwarzenegger without any good films his entire career, which while he never have the same cultural pull.

Not really, you just have to play smarter. Look at Elon and how much of a cult he built around himself using the web. The same can be said for The Rock, Joe Rogan, and Ryan Reynolds. The internet is a great tool for building popularity, but so many of these new actors enter one shit Marvel film then fill social media with muh mental health or “I hate fans, fight the racist whiy-pe-pole”. The internet has allowed dead celebs like Josh Peck and Russel Brand to come back, just play it smart and reap the rewards.

I didn't mean internet doesn't allow celebrities to be big, I was specifically talking about the star culture that made the big movie stars household names. You know Hollywood glamour, paparazzis, award shows, huge movie premieres, talk shows, celebrity leaks and that sort of things have stopped being a big deal. There is always going to be famous and admired people but who those exactly are and what way they play part of the culture changes.

This why current movie stars don't have much staying power. They are basically in same position as silent film stars were when the sound era started. Technology and culture are moving on and that means that the old way won't really work anymore. Kids don't want to be movie stars, they want to be influencers and streamers. Internet has changed the game permanently and so next big name celebrities are going to need different skills because that's how it works.

When it rains, it pours. Ike Perlmutter is gone!
Hmm. Megapussies on the internet are happy because "he be razizt fazizt misogonizt trumper" or whatever because they're still salty he opposed the Black Widow movie for years. Honestly, he was right.
His biggest actual sin was cheaping out on RDJ for Civil War and that was what got him sidelined from the MCU for a long time. He has been irrelevant since then, so his removal changes nothing.

Agree with Pinochet whilst Alonzo will change "something" and hopefully mean graphics are consistent. Perlmutter means nothing because they have done nothing for ages. I feel this is a move to try and impress shareholders when the numbers are in I think for Q2. I expect Q2 to be horrific with Disney+ numbers down, park attendance down and them having to reveal the true figures. With a really dire amount of films this year and Universal parks really flexing, it's going to be vile.

They fired Chapek at the wrong time and they should have saved him for last. Instead, they have to go one by one through contentious people thinking of firing each one expecting each time that investors/holders will furiously jack off thinking of old Disney. in reality, it will only diminish, their next major fire will be Kathleen Kenedy and they will spin it as Star Wars is saved but the problem is so ingrained now.

the texts came out and just made Majors look worse imo bc the woman blaming herself sounds like textbook abuse victim and implies he did beat her up why his retard lawyer thought this text being released would be helpful I have no idea

Yeah reading that text screams Abuse victim remember abuse victims don't see themselves as victims of a abuse. And this screams it "I told them I just slipped on ice and I'm so sorry that I screwed up"

I hope the lawyer realize how dishonest this comes.

apparently his lawyers also have a video they plan to release to help prove his innocence but that's what they said about this so I am fully expecting a video of him just beating the fuck out of her now lmao either that or the video will just be her telling the camera it's all a misunderstanding
No better yet. A video of him beating her and her apologizing as he beats her.
