I liked the movie overall, it had some good emotional moments and did a somewhat better job at maintaining drama than the other MCU movies (though it's still an MCU movie so it still has ill-timed comedy). That said, some of the details kinda fall apart when you think too long, like how Ock and Sandman recognize Norman as the Green Goblin, even though in the Raimi trilogy the only people who knew that were Spider-Man and Harry. Or how the movie blatantly glosses over the fact neither Sandman nor the Lizard died. It was fun overall, and I appreciate the fanservice, but part of me also wishes it wasn't confined within the MCU formula.

In Ock's case I can buy him knowing about norman because they were former "something of scientists themselves" so that I can at least him buying in retrospect and learning norman dying and piecing it together, also wasn't the whole "they all die fighting spiderman" thing an assumption because sandman talks about how both ock and Norman died?

No Way Home has an end credit scene. It's just a trailer for Dr. Strange and the Multiverse of Madness. The next movie coming out. The black wizard is in the trailer.

No, he didn’t. If there is even a one percent chance of the villains reeking havoc on the world that is TOO much of a risk to take. But Aunt May said boo hoo and made Peter feel bad. But instead of learning the message that with great power comes great responsibility, after Ben pays the the price for Peter's selfish use of that power, the message is inverted and May instead tells him, 'you dindo nuffin' you just do whatever is best for you with the power you wield'?
How very current year in its messaging.
 
I can't say that I liked it, the villain and spidy interactions are really the only memorable part everything else feels really boring, this being my first MCU Spiderman film I hated how stupid Tom spider is, like genuine retarded with half of the shit he does, his friends suck along with the shitty attempt of banter that they always try to pull off.
Ock and Green Goblin steal the show and even their dialog feels stiff and very forced especially when they make them repeat they famous phrases from the Raimi movies, hell, Ock does it TWO times (admittedly the second one felt more natural), the way Andrew and Toby get forced into the plot also is very stupid like they genuinely didn't have any idea of how to make it work so they just said fuck it let's go to the memberberries. I have to give props to Andrew tho, of all the actors he seemed to be the one that really was enjoying being back on the suit while lamentably I didn't feel that much energy from Toby.
The resolution is stupid and I wanted to punch Tom for being so goddamn retarded and not doing what Strange told him in the beginning and let him finish the spell. That said, I loved the final scenes that's where it finally felt like a proper Spiderman movie and the new suit looks way better.
So yeah, fanservice movie is pure fanservice and zero substance.

If I remember, she tells Peter first that he didn’t do anything wrong and then while dying says the famous line that wasn’t earned. The statements contradict each other.

Peter did not use his power responsibly - he steals some time cube thing from Dr. Strange before Strange can send the villains back to their own timeline. Then there’s a three to five minute chase scene of the two battling for the cube. Then Peter traps Strange in the Grand Canyon or some shit so he can handle the situation himself. Peter was THAT irresponsible. THAT disrespectful towards someone with a hell of a lot more power and insight into the universe. And Aunt May grabs his head, looks him in the eyes and says he did nothing wrong.

I wish Dr. Strange could’ve been in the scene where Aunt May told Peter that the villains didn’t deserve to go back to their own universes to die and slapped her across the fucking face.

And yes, she IS the movies Uncle Ben. Andrew and Tobey even have a scene telling Tom that. The messaging is EXTREMELY current year.

To be fair its a common trope in movies where a "scientist" just knows everything about every field, Take Doc Brown as an example, we never know what's his specialty and he is seemingly capable of building just about anything. Another example is Dr. Connors in Spiderman 3, he himself tells Peter he "is a physicist not a biologist" but then proceeds to perform an full exam on an alien lifeform anyway, there's countless other examples of movie scientists or "smart guys" just mastering any field. That being said Peter Parker is supposed to know a lot about chemistry as he made his own web shooters in the comics
 
Just got back, I thought it was great, you know me, seeing Tobey back as Spider-Man for the first time since 2007 was great.

However I was hoping we would get to SEE the Raimiverse, would have made for a great finale to have Tom Holland cross over into the Raimiverse and the Webbverse and maybe I missed something but I don't think it was made clear just what Tobey's Spider-Man has been up to these last 14 years, although since he still has the suit the clear implication is that he's still webslinging.

I honestly think Sony should make a Spider-Man spinoff movie that follows Tobey again and brings back Raimi, I mean what implication does having a good version of Doc Ock and Norman Osbourne have for his world? I wanna know!

Also the death of aunt May caught me off guard and was genuinely emotional.
 
On the way home from work I saw a carful of kids wearing cheap kid Spidey masks doing the web gesture out the windows, presumably hype af about going to see the new one.
It was nice to see actual kids excited about capeshit.
 
I also really like how this ends with a back to basics situation for Spider-Man, no high tech nano suit or Avengers connections, just a dude in a homemade suit going out to fight street crime, the essence of the character and why he's always been my favorite Marvel hero, the relatability and more down to Earth situation of the character as opposed to other superheroes.

But please, PLEASE, if they introduce an actual Mary Jane Watson can she still be a sexy white redhead? Zendaya's MJ grew on me, but I'm glad she's just his high school girlfriend.

Tony is a mechanical engineer, but he was able to synthesize a new element in IM2, reverse-engineer an alien artificial intelligence in Age of Ultron and invent time travel (well.. interdimensional travel) in Endgame. Banner and Black Panther's sister are all equally vague super-geniuses, though they have fewer specific feats to point to.

Avengers vs. X-Men is going to happen eventually, but I think the MCU will establish its own cast of X-Men instead of the reusing the characters from Fox.

It's honestly a thing fiction does in general where a scientist or science nerd knows absolutely everything like how doctors know how to do every single medical procedure. It just plays on the suspension of disbelief.
